I feel certain that the cash is already out of British territorial waters and sailing its way to Panama/Columbia/take your pick.   If the bank robbers only walk away with five million pounds sterling it's still a win.

Take it to these guys.

Furthermore, the laws governing reporting of suspicious money flows have been tightened up over the past two years, making it far harder for the criminals to discreetly invest their loot in a piece of real estate or an Old Master.

Huh?

A work of art.

This seems like a really great problem to have. I would love to tackle it.

The internet tells me that an "Old Master" is an original piece of art. I had to look it up, too.

Exactly. Love how the article basically paints SA as a place that looks the other way when HSBC and the others were caught red handed laundering money not only from drug dealers but actual terrorist organizations etc.

So I guess these guys got away with it? Instead of buying masaratis and surreal European art, they just paid their rent in cash and laundered it at the local pub? Sounds like the best plan.

Two words on what to do with that £20 million so that nobody will be able to ever find it -- Bernie Madoff.  The only downside is you probably won't be able to find it either.

sounds like a great way to pretty much live worry free for the rest of your life.  Buy all of your groceries with cash, pay for gas with cash, pay for everything you have no accounts for with cash, buy all of your vehicles used with cash, live a modest life while setting up a small business, launder enough to pay your house off in a couple of years and the only thing you have to have "legit money"for is your utility bills, property taxes.  You can make sure you buy a house on a lot large enough to build your dream home over time-- buy all of your home improvement materials with cash and pay the contractors in cash.

You could be set up, worry free for the rest of your life in to years.  I am sure nobody will be complaining about how hard it is to get rid of a stack of cash a mile high.
