You can. By all means. Go to Saudi Arabia. I'll buy some of the plane tickets if you make sure they're one way.

/ oh... that's not what you meant
// go anyway

US Fundies would totally use Homeland Security as the thought inquisition if they could.

It's America.

Oh, I get it, it's some sort of ignorant pejorative. So clever. Please regale us with another of your witticisms.

I used to think they still lived in the middle ages. It's nice to see they are now up to the year 1984.

It's not murder, so much as it is elimination of vermin. Besides, they should all be happy that they get to go meet Jesus so soon.

Who's to say this isn't how the American Empire ends up; An intellectual and technological backwater, run a by a wealthy elite who cynically exploit the religious fears and prejudices of its masses to pit one group of economically struggling citizens against another group of economically struggling citizens.

Throw up another Phelps or Ken Hamm or Dick Dynasty or Nancy Grace or O'Reilly or Paul and I'll consider it, because it's easy.

Saudi Arabia attacked us on 9/11 and the fundies here invade their enemy for them. Why wouldn't the same group agree with everything else they do?

2014-04-01 11:19:32 AM
They pretty much have. Remember kids: it's not intolerant to want to keep rights out of the hands of the Godless and the homos--it IS intolerant to point out it out when they actually say it though-- it's a danger to have freedom of religion if that religion isn't based on Judeo-Christian principles, and the separation of Church and State was just a goof that the Framers had in mind after the fiasco of the Articles of Confederation and the official faiths that each state incorporated and the deaths and damage that the brawl over said faiths resulted in was just "rough housing"...

Irrational numbers sound dangerous. They should proclaim math to be evil while they're at it.

Well, even back then, the Islamic centers of learning were always around the Mediterranean, the Fertile Crescent, or Central Asia (i.e. where they interacted with other cultures), not the Arabian peninsula.

In the right parts of America, this already happens.

// Google "Deb Tambor", a woman who lost custody rights during a divorce because of her decision to leave her husband's faith
// she killed herself about 6 months ago
// I am certain this is not the only case of its kind

By their very nature, one cannot negotiate or debate irrational numbers.  They are unpredictable in the end, and even the most well-known and studied can surprise you.  Irrationality destroys civilizations.

The real problem is Authoritarians protecting the weakness of their own moral framework onto the rest of us, who have no difficulty being good people without the threat of punishment from some magical daddy-figure.

This must be why so many revered Mother Teresa during her life - her hand-written doubts about the existence of God didn't become known until after she was dead and less dangerous.

If you haven't seen that shortened, alternative spelling about one million times, you might be living under a rock.

Your labeling of someone else as ignorant lacks a certain impact.
