My mom drove a new '68 V8 Mustang off of the showroom floor.

It was towed back that night when it wouldn't start.

It was towed back 4 times the first year she owned it.

She got into a screaming match on the showroom floor because she was told it was overheating because she 'drove like a woman' (ah the 60s).  It turns out it had the wrong thermostat in it, and the dealer mechanics kept replacing it with the same wrong model until one of the mechanics was like "Hey, I think that's the wrong one, lets look it up.  Doh!"

The after market AC she had put in it fried the electrical system.

MrSteve007: Heh, just yesterday I decided to give a little attention to my '65 stang - even made a little video of the first attempt to start her in ~5 years.

new_york_monty: Jokes aside, this new Mustang is the first one they've produced I could seriously see myself buying. I love that they've got an IRS and an optional turbo-4. And they've kept the honking V8 for traditionalists. It's a nice way to bring an American icon into the 21st century. Pretty, too.

FWIW: the '84 - '86 Mustang SVO was running a turbo 4.

gfid: hammettman: First car I owned was a '67 Mustang GT.  390 big block, fastback, cherry red, fark me.  Old man, who had a good barometer on cars, bought it for me for $500.  It even ran for a year. I dropped in a 428SCJ engine, because a friend had one in Visalia, 400 miles away, bought some ripple walls, because I could, and for the most part felt good to be the king in my junior year.  Blew the engine, rebuilt it myself, whilst making gas station wages @ $3.25/hour, and assorted side bets on street races, before I had to part with my cherry.  Goddamn me to hell for ever selling it.

And to think that way back when a kid could have some serious Detroit muscle while only making $3.25 an hour.  The only problem I see is "cherry red".  That car looked better in black, but if you offered me a red one I probably wouldn't complain.  Of course, I think all cars look better in black.  It's not racist or anything.

Wrong, everyone knows red is the fastest color.

So what you're saying is it's better than the Mustang II?

But then, so is a bicycle.

I won't believe it until they hand it over to a tame race driver.  Some say he likes to beat dead horses.
