ManateeGag: scottydoesntknow: Weber, who criticized Obama for "wasting time on a parody interview" earlier this month with comedian Zack Galifianakis instead of focusing on BenghaziWow, they are still farking that chicken!what would he have accomplished in that time? Also, it's a shame that this asshole isn't capable of doing multiple things at the same time.
Remember that all models are wrong; the practical question is how wrong do they have to be to not be useful.
scottydoesntknow: Wow, they are still farking that chicken!
factoryconnection: What's newsworthy in this piece is that it wasn't Rep. Gohmert, honestly. I'm floored!
abb3w: "Remember that all models are wrong; the practical question is how wrong do they have to be to not be useful. " - George E. P. Box...actually, I'm having trouble sourcing Weber's "famous" quote to anyone before Weber. It will almost certainly have a bogus attribution to Einstein within the week, but does anyone know where it actually comes from?
fruitloop: And that scientist's name was Albert Einstein.
palelizard: Doesn't matter that's how science works--anybody willing to use that quotation to attack science clearly has no respect for it, and never will. Even if you got them cognizant of "yes, that's called the scientific process--observe, hypothesize, test, observe, hypothesize, etc", they'll just laugh and tell you that's foolish. There's a type of person who will not change their minds about something--to them, whatever the first thought/opinion/choice was, it always has to be that way. There is no growing, changing or adapting, and by god there will never be a re-evaluation of the situation or information. That kind of thinking is dangerous! They also don't understand why people begin to ignore them when they are consistently and repeatedly wrong, and do not comprehend the difference between the two.
TheBlackrose: scottydoesntknow: Weber, who criticized Obama for "wasting time on a parody interview" earlier this month with comedian Zack Galifianakis instead of focusing on BenghaziWow, they are still farking that chicken!I think we're well beyond farking the chicken. Even beyond farking the bones of what was once the chicken.Ladies and gentlemen, we have reached the point where they're farking the ashes.
born_yesterday: I like to believe that someday, people this stupid will be ashamed to speak in public, maybe too ashamed to keep from taking their own lives. But right now it's just a dream.
Dr Dreidel: I don't understand.Does this pigf*cking waste of diatomic oxygen, carbon dioxide, and many trillions of hydrocarbons develop a theory and NOT test it? Does he develop and test a theory, and then NOT compare it to reality? Does he develop, test, and compare, and then NOT alter the theory to comport with reality?I'm just trying to figure out where he lost the ability to do things the way a 3-year-old would.
BunkyBrewman: "Naturally, the theories we now have might be considered wrong in the simplistic sense of my English Lit correspondent some asshat congressman, but in a much truer and subtler sense, they need only be considered incomplete."My apologies Mr. Asimov
ikanreed: The people who see Ham's response as more sensible are everything that's wrong with everything.
"So I was just wondering how that related, like, for example, to global warming and eventually global cooling," Weber said. "And I may want to get your cell phone because if we do go through a couple cycles - global warming and then back to global cooling - I need to know when to buy my long coat on sale. You know, I just don't know how y'all prove those hypotheses going back 50, 100 mill - what you might say thousands, even millions of years, how you postulate those forward."
