As I don't fly, it would be physically impossible for me to care less.

The idea of being 30,000 feet in the air inside an aluminum tube with a group of strangers for several hours is my definition of torture.

And what if the pilot can't get to 12,000 feet after 15 minutes? Everyone on board will pass out. And well, you know what happens next.

The pilot fixes the cable?

Pilots have a greater oxygen supply and really don't mind if you take a nap.  Besides most death are caused by air/earth interface situations.

In the event of a water landing, your aircraft will become a submarine

MaudlinMutantMollusk: In the event of a water landing, your aircraft will become a submarine

Actually a scrapyard.

Actually a scrapyard.

But a submerged scrapyard

Why is the pilot even talking about ass-things?

That is because George already covered it

/As with anything Carlin, NSFW language.

There is far crazier stuff you don't know about.

Was that supposed to be funny?

I'll give you 1. Those seat cushions are only designed to float for 30 minutes.

2.You Don't Have to Know How to Swim to Be an Airline Passenger. But, It Could Help. Alot!

Smear the "writer's" nut sack with honey and stake him to an anthill in the searing desert sun.

The red zone is for the immediate loading and unloading of passangers only.

I frequently fly and I know far too much about physics to be concerned about what flotation device to be worried about.  If some how I survive the impact into water (unlikely) there will be plenty of floating debris and I'm a strong swimmer.  I'll take my chances.

My biggest fear isn't how long until I'm rescued.  It's the four or five minutes of sheer terror at the end of the ride.  Oh and the sudden deceleration that will pretty much turn me into blood pudding.

Your ideas about water landings are in complete disagreement with the facts.

In the Hudson crash, there was less than 3 minutes warning, no floating debris other than the intact airplane, everyone survived, and the water temp was 36 degrees (survival time <5 minutes for strong swimmers without flotation devices.)

Is it just me, or are there an increasing number of "5 crazy things that [blah blah blah]!" and "9 weird tricks to find out [blah blah blah]!" showing up lately? I don't mind click-bait in the margins of my browser (where it belongs), but these are hardly "news", and rarely entertaining.

I think that's my first "get off my lawn post". I turn 40 this week, so probably relevant.
