Good.  His show stinks and I get uncomfortable watching it.

The Golden Girls is awesome.

2014-03-31 02:35:39 PM
I had no idea who that guy was until he was on Colbert, and the interview was a bit awkward. The man has a truly impressive brain, but as is often the case it does not lend itself to social situations like a TV show.

2014-03-31 02:36:22 PM
The theory was that Farrow, a Rhodes scholar who graduated college when he was 15 and went on to score degrees from Yale and Oxford, would bring his 245,000 Twitter followers with him to television.

Because if there's one thing people used to communicating in 140 characters or less no matter where they're at will surely like, it's an hour long show in the middle of the day that requires them to be near a TV.

2014-03-31 02:36:48 PM
You know those rating systems are flawed. They don't take in account houses that have, uh, more than two television sets and other - other things of that nature.

...but he did it his way.

I always watch The Golden Girls when its on.  That and Roadhouse.  If Roadhouse comes on, then I have to watch it.

Walter Cronkite Excellence in Journalism Award winner, HAHA! Should of at least gave him 3 months before bestowing a lifetime award on a guy.

I hear he's up for a Nobel Prize

OK, so now I'm imagining Dalton sequentially nailing the Golden Girls up against that wall.

And I *LIKE* it.

It's like watching someone you kinda like try to play a role they totally aren't capable of fulfilling.  Like I said - it makes it uncomfortable to watch him.

Plus, his lead in is Andrea Mitchell.  It's like suddenly running in sand.

Speaking of shows nobody watches, how long until Seth Meyers is off the air?

Seth Meyers (and Fallon especially) are both killing it in the ratings.

They are doing well, although last few weeks between Kimmel reruns and CBS messing up the Thurs/Fri Late night schedule with basketball... let's see how all of them do in a week where everyone has new episodes.

Also... guests have a lot more to do with these shows ratings than people like to admit

Give the farker a Tony award. No less deserving of that than he was of the Cronkite award

Diogenes: Good.  His show stinks and I get uncomfortable watching it.

Came to say something approximately the same.

I watched it a few times just to make sure I wasn't unfairly judging him based on his effeminate nature.

His subject matter seems pretty compelling, I just can't stand watching him.

2014-03-31 02:52:50 PM
This is like RT-level numbers.

I don't understand why MSNBC (and all the other "news" channels) can't have an hour or two of  rolling news every day a la BBC World or Al Jazeera.  Just news, not a personality-led opinion show. Some of us still like that sort of thing.  It would pull greater numbers than this.

Yeah, he's certainly not dumb.  Just has a terrible, awkward presence on camera.

Let's see...if re-arrange things a little....

Tonight, Ronan Farrow will beat off to a Golden Girls rerun!

There, that ought to help his ratings.

/No, no...your thanks are payment enough

You can add PBS News Hour to the list.

"He sort of stinks on TV," an MSNBC source told Confidenti@l. "He hasn't turned out to be the superstar they were hoping for."
The theory was that Farrow, a Rhodes scholar who graduated college when he was 15 and went on to score degrees from Yale and Oxford, would bring his 245,000 Twitter followers with him to television. "But that hasn't happened," the source said. "Just because someone is a boy genius-turned-Twitter star doesn't mean they deserve their own TV show."
Last Wednesday, Farrow drew an average of about 312,000 total viewers, which might be stellar for Twitter but "is rather measly for someone who is supposed to be a major national personality," another source said.

Huh?

So, other than the fact that his parents are Mia Farrow and Woody Allen (and maybe Frank Sinatra), what has he done that I should know him? Did he cure cancer? Does he have a sex tape?

2014-03-31 03:15:01 PM
I wonder if Ronan Farrow's show could possibly suck as much as that website?

is ronan farrow related to mia farrow?  every time i see his name, that is the first thing i think.

also, matt drudge has a hard on for that guy.  is farrow gay?  drudge is obsessive over him.

Here's the ratings for the last pre-tournament, no reruns week. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2014/03/20/late-night-tv-ratings-for - march-10-14-2014/238812/

I don't understand it (with Fallon, anyway). The guests haven't looked that enticing to me, either, but I'm a lot younger than the Tonight Show's regular viewer.

He's Mia and Woody's son, but there is rampant speculation he's actually Sinatra's kid.  There's also alot of speculation he's gay.  Which explains Drudge's obsession, being in denial and such.

Ronan also believes Woody molested his sister.  I blame the mother.  That woman was a conniving witch long before Woody started going out with her.

His voice makes me want to kick small kittens.

2014-03-31 03:45:53 PM
What do you know, accusing your oscar winning father (maybe) of molestation doesn't bring in the viewers you had hoped.

2014-03-31 03:50:32 PM
The silver spoon pretentiousness just drips off of this guy.  I had no idea who he was and I went and looked him up and I was like, ohh that makes sense.  Now way someone who ever had to work for a living would hold themselves like that.  I literally couldn't hear what was coming out of his mouth because his demeanor was so off-putting.

2014-03-31 03:52:39 PM
I saw him on Maher a while back. He was bright, but he lacks wisdom. A lot of his opinions lacked substance - he sounded like a smart person who was talking just to be talking. He's not someone whose opinions I would seek out. "Not ready for primetime" was my takeaway.

Also, his sister's molestation scandal suddenly getting dug up right as his show was about to start, whether it was planned as a publicity stunt or was just shiatty timing, was an excellent way to park a dark cloud over your television premiere. His camp was doing better when they were running with the story that he might be Frank's kid.

Ratings.  Most (idiots) prefer talking heads.  The same thing is happening on ESPN (see: First Take)

I remember when Headline News was just that for 24 hours.  I'd just leave it on in the background while I did other stuff.
