The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves: He is remembered for his pioneering work in the field of trolling, the radio play War of the Worlds.

He continued that work through his life.  You should read some of his interviews.  He had no time for stupid reporters, and it's one of the reasons there are so many wild stories out there about him: he'd simply make shiat up for th fun of it,

I was just watching a NOVA special where one of the interviewees believes that Lindberg arranged his own son's kidnapping "because eugenics."

Not his wife, but rather his long-term mistress, Marion Davies.  It was apparently a well-known Hollywood rumor, which could well be true, as Marion liked to drink and had a hard time keeping her mouth shut when she did.

Mrs Hearst stayed "back east" and generally avoided her husband for two reasons 1) Marion and 2) that he spent all his time and a large part of his money on a giant farking castle on top of a hill in the middle of nowhere on the California Coast.  Mrs Hearst was a cultured woman and preferred New York and ignoring her husband's girlfriend.

Was he ever on the show (it does look like his bulk in the first episode he shows up in) or did they just use his voice?
