The girl, who was flying alone, told flight attendants what happened and changed seats. She maintained Pascal was "clearly awake" and put some of his body on her.

Good point.

Blame the greedy airline industry. Those seats are way to narrow and have claimed another hapless victim.

He's going to find out if there's a mile high club in prison.  Much like a real plane, the pilot will be up front and a whole bunch of "passengers" right behind him.

2014-03-31 09:36:52 AM
He was just trying make sure her seat was locked in the upright position on his lap.

Anyone have a link to the Japanese "learn to speak dirty in English" instructional video from about a decade ago? The one that actually claimed the word "cockpit" was a sexual slang word?

My friends and I started using all sorts of plane parts as euphemisms after watching that. We still wag eyebrows at the mention of fuselage.

2014-03-31 09:39:36 AM
Too bad for him he's not rich, and he didn't rape his 3 year old daughter, because you can walk on those charges, apparently.

Good for her for standing up for herself.

All you have to say is that prison wouldn't be agreeable with you and you can walk!  What a country!

This is a prison rape joke, isn't it?

He's a grown-up adult man. Grown-up adult men understand that you do not put yourself in a situation where, somehow, your hand ends up under a 14-year-old, gripping her ass.

There's a 1-in-100 chance this was purely accidental...and that's being generous.

The other prisoners can call his cell, "The Pilot Hole".  bud-um-bum!

Five years in jail for touching a 14 year old's clothed ass is a bit extreme. I mean, the guy isn't even black.

2014-03-31 10:06:01 AM
Although I would say it is a very low % chance, it is not impossible that his story of events are true.... you fall asleep on the plane (or anywhere), you unconsciously "cuddle" up to whatever is near by.   "Those aren't pillows" isn't a famous movie line for nothing.

But, in that case, the rule of "Never fall asleep next to a 14 year old girl", no matter how you are next to her, comes into play.

2014-03-31 10:10:54 AM
In defense of the pilot, who hasn't wanted to get into a 14 year old girls cockpit?

Off hand I can think of "under-carriage", "tail" and "flaps" as being suitable for sexual slang. I'd like to know about this instructional video too.

Cargo Hold.  Fuselage, Aisle, Emergency Exit.  Flotation Cushions.  Inflatiblle slide,  drink cart, First Class seating.

I guess there are two potential versions of events -- one where a tired dude fell asleep, and due to small airline seats leaned over to get away from a fat man. And woke up to a precious snowflake having a fit that he brushed against her clothed leg. And another version of events where a prev tried to grope a sleeping girl.

The jury reached a verdict in a couple of hours, so there must have been some compelling evidence. I presume this guy could afford a real lawyer, and not a public defender. Still, I can't imagine it was anything other than a he-said-she-said situation. Maybe she was really credible and he wasn't. One just has to trust juries in these matters.

Ok, maybe not parts of an airplane but more of flying an airplane: Go-around, glide slope, hammer head

Agreed.... although as I said above, the general rule you need to live by is "Never fall asleep next to a 14 year old girl", and this guy failed that rule, so, them's are the breaks.

A lesson to all others.... and if you think you are going to fall asleep and won't be able to control where you land... request a seat switch.

He didn't walk away, he got probation.  So he can't rape his 3 year old daughter or molest his infant son for a while, and that is apparently very hard for him to do!  It's not like it's going to be a cakewalk!

This stupid pilot should have just been rich if he wanted to molest kids.

I worked with this guy in flight school in the 90s and I was also employed at the same airline as him for 9 years.

Let's just say I'm not surprised....

He flies for a regional carrier.  They make somewhere between mid 20's and low 30's.  They can't afford lawyers.  Hell, he was in a middle seat.  That doesn't demostrate a lot of respect by the parent carrier.

He and I started at the same time, so at this point, he'd be making 16-year pay, which would put him just under $100,000.

Yes, starting pay at a Regional is terrible and being an F/O doesn't pay for long. He was a captain for a long time; he was doing pretty OK.

Now was this a grope or was this a grope grope?  Because I heard if this was a legitimate groping her body would have shut down and not allowed it.

In reality, there are no predators. There are only falsely-accused individuals. Is that about right?

Usually you wade into these threads biatching about arrests. Now you're biatching about jury convictions. In any case, it seems like you always side with the predators.

Seems like you read what you want to read, am I right?

m00: One just has to trust juries in these matters.

I'm generally skeptical of prosecutors and police assertions, but as I said in this case the fact a jury only took 3 hours indicates that the evidence was clear.

m00: The jury reached a verdict in a couple of hours, so there must have been some compelling evidence.

My god, do you even read... or do you lack a command of the English language?

Instead of reading, you do this thing where you assume the thing that was written was substituted with what you wish was said. And then you manufacture your own outrage.

Again, you sound like a FOX viewer.

Funny with the ad-hominems. Here's one of the things I read (allow me to quote):

Still, I can't imagine it was anything other than a he-said-she-said situation.

You came across as being pretty skeptical. That line makes its containing paragraph sound sarcastic. That was your second paragraph, though. Your first one, right off the bat, used 37 words to lay out the "falsely accused" scenario (a tired dude fell asleep, and due to small airline seats leaned over to get away from a fat man. And woke up to a precious snowflake having a fit that he brushed against her clothed leg) followed by 8 words (a prev tried to grope a sleeping girl) to summarize the jury's verdict.

Serious question: If you believe that the evidence against him was compelling and accept the jury's verdict, why bother with the "falsely accused" angle at all?

I have you farkied a certain way based on nothing more than your own posts.

your own biases

Fuggin Bizzy: Still, I can't imagine it was anything other than a he-said-she-said situation.

Of course it was. There were no witnesses, other than the two people involved. The only evidence of the crime was the testimony of the victim. This isn't like a rape case where there is physical evidence. But, as I said, the jury found the testimony of the victim credible. So, the system works especially because the perpetrator probably wasn't using a public defender.

(as a note, I think the PD system is fundamentally broken)

Fuggin Bizzy: Serious question: If you believe that the evidence against him was compelling and accept the jury's verdict, why bother with the "falsely accused" angle at all?

Because there are two hypothetical scenarios. They existed in superposition until the verdict of the jury, which found one more credible than the other.

The "Pilot-induced oscillation" contributed to the inherent "Dutch roll" instability while the undercarriage was "down-n-dirty". And then they made a final approach pass by the "semi-rigid derigible".
