So Daniel Tosh was wrong when he said legalization of marijuana would take the one things stoners liked to talk about.

"Dave. . .remember when smoking was like. . .illegal man!. . ."
"Steve. . .I even went to JAIL for weed"

Maybe we should look at making things that make people violent and confrontational schedule 1. Like liquor.

If we're going that far let's introduce the involuntary sterilization program too.  Certain people shouldn't be allowed to reproduce and certain others shouldn't be allowed to produce any more.

I've been a huge proponent of regulating assault booze. No one needs alcohol, near beer should be good enough for everyone.

But with that, it's not like WA and Co were bastions of violent crime before they allowed us to toke up. We're just happier now.

Gee imagine that. A populace that has more individual liberty and less government intrusion is happier and less prone to violence. Wish someone would have told us that a few hundred years ago. Maybe wrote it down on some document that our political leaders and police would be required to follow.

You know what?  That concept used to enrage me; being as I like to consider myself a libertarian.  But now I think it is, unfortunately, the best interests of society.  Parenting has really gone downhill, and the population is growing exponentially.  China may have had this one right.

Me too.  Particularly when we hear the same farking results over & over:  Nixon's handpicked Schafer Commission Report (rec: decrim. & pi*sed off Nixon to no end and really got the war underway - `not a crook and not soft on drugs')

"...Further, no findings indicated that marihuana was generally or frequently used immediately prior to the commission of offenses in the very small number of instances in which these offense's did occur. In contrast, however, the aggressive and violent offenders in this sample did report with significantly greater frequency the use of alcohol within 24 hours of the offense in question.
These findings should be considered in light of an earlier West Coast study of disadvantaged minority-group youthful marihuana users, many of whom were raised in a combative and aggressive social milieu similar to that found in several of the West Philadelphia sampled neighborhoods. The data show that marihuana users were much less likely to commit aggressive or violent acts than were those who preferred amphetamines or alcohol. They also show that most marihuana users were able to condition themselves to avoid aggressive behavior even in the face of provocation. In fact, marihuana was found to play a significant role in youth's transition from a "rowdy" to a "cool," non-violent style..."
http://www.iowamedicalmarijuana.org/documents/nc1ch3.aspx#1a2 .

Just how many tax dollars have gone up in smoke in a futile effort to stamp out the devil weed since that report was issued in 1972?  And the Commission findings were pretty much exactly what the LaGuardia Committee findings were, in NYC, in 1944 (that report REALLY pi*sed of H. Anslinger who, as head of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, needed some easy to burn target so's to stay in competition with his nemesis J.Edgar Hoover).

I read on the BBC recently that heroin production in Mexico has increased 600% in the last 10 years, 8 or so of those years have been amid a violent war and crackdown on illegal drugs and the cartels that bring them to market. 100k+ dead while on the American streets purity and availability are way up, and cost is down.

Why the f*ck are we fighting a war on drugs? We can't win, we lost a long time ago. If we're going to continue down this puritan path, let's at least leave Mexico out of it. Let them do their thing and we'll just kill each other here over it until we face the bloody facts.

People like being high.

I concur.
Very first time I smoked weed was a bad trip. It was normal weed and all. But six hits and I was dry heaving, shaking, and VERY irritable. I got a text that aggravated me, I walked to the kid's house, explained I was gonna kick his ass and didn't know where to start. "that's hot" he says. I stomped on his crotch, fell on him, and started punching him in the face.
He didn't take it back though.
Second time, one hit of indica, shaking and heaving, left my phone on the couch and just went to walk it off.
Never again.

I watched the guy do it, and it was being passed around, I'm the only one who had issues. And the only other thing in my system was tobacco from hookah.

Oh wait. It was legal for 100 years.

One cigarette is enough to make me violently ill for a couple hours... nicotine does not agree with me.  As a result, exposure to cigarette smoke has conditioned me to have a very negative reaction.  I've known people like zarker who react that way to cannabis as well.  Of course, there is also the group of people who take one puff of pot and end up asleep in 20 minutes.

Portugal seems to be doing okay too.  I still don't think cocaine / heroin should be legal.  Cannabis in it natural form (the flowers, for those who don't know) can be plucked off the plant and immediately consumed.  Cocaine and heroin don't come close to resembling what they are made from.

I grew up with parents who smoke (not in the house, in the garage, but it was always a good opportunity to strike up a conversation, despite them explaining they were trying to not smoke around me) I've heard hookah is more direct, I think. It's not a good place to start.

I've tried a mixture of cannabis and shisha out of a hookah and to me it was just a waste of cannabis.  it was too tainted by the taste/smell of tobacco smoke.  I feel the same way about blunts... they are a waste of pot because the cigar papers always taste like tobacco.  (and people usually don't inhale the smoke from cigars and their papers)
