The Rockies will be the doormat in that division. Padres will finish third behind LA and San Fran and ahead of Arizona and Colorado.

Padres the doormat?  Pfffffft.  Not while the Monforts are in charge of the Rockies.

ESPN be damned, it ain't baseball season until the parade finishes in Cincinnati.

If it's opening night, how are the Dodgers already 2-0?

Cripes...I was going to mention the Rockies, but the first two posts (out of four overall) beat me.

Two games in Sydney against the Diamondbacks on Mar 22 and 23.

I'll be buried in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Opening Day in Australia.

Over/Under 26 for the number of game before Puig gets thrown out for being a child

I just think it's dumb that the Dodgers will have played 3 games that count in the standings before 27 teams have even played 1.

Baseball doesn't start until the Reds play.

"You play 20-30 games to see what you got. Trade for 20-30 games to get what you need. Then play 20-30 games to get in a position to make a run." - MLB Manager (Can't remember who.)

I love that quote.

I just looked at the schedule the other day.I knew the Dodgers opened up in Australia. But growing up the opening day was Cincinnati.I remember the umpire having the heart attack before he took the field. That was horrible

And ESPN farked that up by having the first day game being the Cubs vs the Pirates at 1 PM ET, followed by KC vs Detroit 8 minutes later and Washington vs the Mets at 1:10 PM. WTG, Bud, let ESPN dictate which games start the season.

Why is ESPN2 televising the Rockies-Marlins game tomorrow night? How many people want to watch that game nationally?

That opening series really messed up my fantasy team. We drafted so early to make sure those games were included, and four of my players went on the DL since then.

Luckily all but Chapman should be back early to late April.

They're targeting the masochist crowd.

Maybe they have to contractually show very team and they figured they would get these 2 out of the way right off the bat while they are both mathematically alive?

They're showing the rerun of the Walking Dead where Carol shoots a little girl in the back of the head. I think that's more uplifting right now.

That was glorious!

I'm just pissed that I didn't expect there to be a thread about this game, and only just now found it.

Incredible. No matter how shiatty the Padres are in a given year, you can always count on them having a solid closer. WTG Street!

Dbacks pitcher Brandon McCarthy was watching the game and tweeted this: Some day when we're all retired, I'll see Denorfia somewhere and tell him "you were a pain in the ass" and mean it as an extreme compliment.

High praise and deserved praise.

Padres are my adopted team so it's particularly satisfying to see Puig go 0 for 3 with a K

I'm pretty sure nobody expected a Padres game to be the focus of a Fark thread.
