Pope Francis has ordered a complete overhaul of the bank and a detailed inquiry into the transparency of its transactions.

The pontiff sacked two former directors who now face possible trial on money-laundering charges.

Man I really like the new pope. Walk the walk and all of that. Best advertising campaign for Christianity since the original deal.

Does the Vatican police still turn criminals over to the Italians for prosecution? if so I wonder what kind of satanic cult ritual theory the Italian prosecutor will try to construct around this crime?

What kind of idiot goes on to try to deposit 3 trillion? Nobody is going to fall for that.

Probably unrelated, but I just got an email from an American and a Dutch guy being held illegally in Italy.

They need my help to get them out of jail and promised me a LOT of money (don't want to go into any specifics here) for my support.

So I just sent them all the info they need to secure their release from jail.

I'm gonna be f*cking rich, suckers!!!!

But if they had brought 4 trillion underage boys, nobody would have batted an eyelid...Amirite?/but yes, trillion, not billion. it is RIGHT THERE subby, right there.

I saw a Frontline on PBS last week on the Vatican Bank. The Bank has been laundering  Neopolitan,Sicilian,  and other  crime organizations money for centuries. When a prominent Italian prosecutor was asked what would happen if Pope Francis carried out a major reform  of the Bank, the Prosecutor said that the Crime Families wouldn't hesitate to whack him. I was kind of shocked frankly.

In England, what we call a billion they call a thousand million, and what we call a trillion they call a billion.  So might just be a language thing.

Hmm, given that Francis has taken to removing the bulletproof glass from the popemobiles, maybe I should add him to my deadpool....

Hmmm.....

Be it as it may, I think they might be hesitant to do the same to Pope Francis.  He's a very polarizing pontiff.  He's reinvigorating the Catholic Church, inspiring the flock like they haven't been for centuries.  If there was even a hint of his death being an assassination, he'd become an instant martyr, and the enraged faithful would see everything he ever dreamed of doing carried out to the end.

In addition, Francis is considerably more savvy than the previous popes appear to have been.  It wouldn't surprise me in the least if he hasn't already put in place contingency plans for if he is assassinated or dies a "sudden" death.  Videos from beyond the grave where the subject is speaking with the full knowledge that it won't be shown until he's dead can be very VERY powerful things.

If I were a cute American girl in Italy, who once went to an Italian bank, I would be catching a cab for the airport right now.

/It's an odd turn of events, when the Vatican police are probably much more rational about the satanic cult BS, than the Italian prosecutors.

They should be arrested for impersonating Nigerian princes.  Aggravated impersonation of a Nigerian prince, while white.  They could do serious time for this.

You have to be Bishop level or higher to do that.

My 4 year old says stuff like "fifty hundred" when she means a really big number.  Makes sense why people fled England for the US.

Are you seriously unable to see the difference between how the Church, a corporation, is different from a bank it has which is notorious for manipulating/laundering money and why transparency there would be reasonable, but then sharing everything your company does to anyone who feels like looking it up, is a *wee* bit different?
