"Tony discovered that their family holidays had actually been an excuse to find drug money that had been hidden away around America.

When they visited family his mother would go into the back yard and dig up some of the $1 million they had buried at relatives' homes"

What is not known by we is how much of this remains. Perhaps there is the treasure near you of the drug marijuana pusher who was the individual profiled in the story of this. What should be done of this? Should we take the turns to do the seeking of the funds and then share this? Should we make this the competition and the best person on the Fark.com website who does the finding of this wins? I would like the input from you as we will probably wish for making this the Fark Party event. Thank you for the time of you and may you have the blessed day!

I think he forgot to use cop math.  Poor guy.

50t x 2000lb/t x16oz /lb = 1.6m oz.
$6m/1.6m = $3.75/oz.

It's like the opposite of cop math.

Meh, it's $60/lb so that's not too bad for a smuggler. $120,000/t is pretty good money. Many make far less than that.

csb/ A good friend was busted in Louisiana in the early 80's with 7 tons he was smuggling. He sure as hell wasn't making $840k for his efforts either. He did get 20 years for it though so there's that.

I was expecting this to be a followup to that moronic buzzfeed link about Bilzerian last night.

Similar story of a friend of mine. Except his dad got screwed over by the CIA and assassinated by some Colombians.

Why write this book? Is it just a humble brag?

Can't say how awesome he thinks dad is, so instead he writes "his father 'still haunts me, making me fearful of the genes I carry and the man I may become'"

That's profit after expenses.

Haven't you seen Breaking Bad? Everyone gets their cut of the gross.

I think it is time to do a little snooping and find anybody how is related to him and where they lived during that time and get a shovel.

He was the smuggler, not the grower, wholesaler or retailer.

The guy ran a business over the course of a career which did 6 million in revenue? Average that over 30 years, that's 200k per year. Did he run it all himself, or did he have to pay anyone else for protection, for help in transport, or for the transporters themselves, gas, anything? It sounds like a decent living but hardly extravagant.

That actually sounds a bit low for a whole career.

Must have been some real low-end hookers.

All a man really wants and needs is hookers and blow. It's very simple.

Legit. The son turned out so illiterate and ugly. Poor him.

/I'd tap that

I saw this tv show once that went in great detail to show how difficult it actually is to spend drug money on anything other than hookers and blow.  And why would you want to, anyway?
