FTA: He has since amended the amendment to describe the Columbian Mammoth as "created on the Sixth Day with the beasts of the field."

Why do they feel that everything that doesn't specifically give a shout-out to their religion somehow persecutes them?  It would have been stupid if the bill had said, "The mammoth fossil, which proves the theories of Lord Darwin, PBUH", and it's stupid this way, too.

You're making it really hard for me to give a shiat about your opinions about anything, Crooks and Liars.

That said, these two dim-witted goofballs should be laughed out of office.

What would it take to get all Christians classified as a hate group?  That's about an inch from 'terrorist' and then we could lock them all up.

And then they have the temerity to wonder why young people and anyone else with at least two working braincells don't vote Republican.

Congratulations, you bible-thumping assholes.

real_headhoncho: gilgigamesh: Fair, who has compared the President to Osama Bin Laden, helped to block funding for a rape crisis center, called climate change a hoax, and blocked evolution from the state's science standards, saying "I don't have a problem with teaching theories. I don't think it should be taught as fact," stood up for Biblical representation in the state fossil-after all, what's science without Jesus?

Bryant proposed an amendment to the bill to include a passage from Genesis explaining the Biblical creation of life-because why not?

What we have here is just another example of liberals taking a few fringe, powerless backwoods extremist whackos with no influence, and blowing them up as if they were representative of the views of mainstream Christians who create policy.

Really, liberals. You should be ashamed.

No wonder people on earth have been largely illiterate for so long.
no Fossil, which is real, yet "Jesus", an obvious illiterate, left nothing behind, ascended into "Heaven". Riiight.
Fossils are real, and Jesus, well, you say he's real, but, no one was there, were they there? No bones, fingernail clippings, nothing.
Where's the Cartman retard Jesus bumper stickers?

rbuzby: Why do Christians want  the government to acknowledge their religion?  Are they worried God will be mad if the state has an official fossil?  So they placate God by making sure he is mentioned in the fossil bill?

"I was sooo going to smite you people but then you mentioned me in your bill, so for now, you will remain un-smoten"  said God.  Apparently.

These "social conservatives" pols themselves are intelligent to know creationism  is BS, but they'd rather pander to the ignorant and superstitious yee-haws to guarantee themselves some easy votes than actually offer anything to benefit those they are actually "serving".

Holy schnikeys, I thought you were just trolling with that:

"He is best known for the stacks of bills he has introduced that deal with sex. A recent bill called for jail time and fines for men caught in public with "discernibly turgid penises." Fair has sponsored many bills that advocate treating homosexuality as a crime.

Fair proposed rewriting the 1988 Comprehensive Health Education Act to delete all mention of "responsible sexual behavior." To Fair there is no such thing outside of marriage.

That's the difference.

That Guy Jeff: dr_blasto: These Republicans are what you tacitly support whenever you vote for a Republican in your own districts for anything, even dog catcher. You're voting for an asshole that looks at the party that is full of these shiatbags and decides "I wanna be associated with that."

No matter how sane your guy seems, he is down for that. Electing him puts more Republicans in public office and puts them in a position to gather more money. Just like electing your seemingly sane (he isn't) representative to the House is actually voting to keep the likes of Boehner and Cantor in power.

And every time you vote Democrat you support anti-vaxers, anti-video game crusaders, and  the national security police state.

Or votes should be based on merit, not party lines. You are the problem.

No, the problem is a two-party system in which one must choose the lesser of two evils.  Granted, it's a pretty easy choice, but still, it'd be nice if those candidates who had a chance of being elected were not themselves solidly welded to one platform or the other.  In the USA, that doesn't seem to happen much outside of primaries --- and even then, it's largely a question of which candidate has the best chance of beating the other party's candidate in the real election.

If you want to blame something, blame the system rather than the individual voter..

That Guy Jeff: Or votes should be based on merit, not party lines. You are the problem.

Just to expound a bit, I do agree that one should vote for the candidate based on their positions and likely actions, not on their party.  But I also do not think that people who vote straight-party ticket are the real problem.
