Plant Rights Activist: wtf is this shiat

dick cheney type 'gun enthusiasts' and 'hunters' don't want to sit in the woods for hours to maybe see an animal with us poors, so they pay lots of money to have ranches raise them and then put them in a pen. they can then roll up in a golf cart, shoot them and still hit the bar for shmoosing by noon whole their caddy cuts the horns off.

it turns out that like puppy mills, this is terrible for the genetics of the deer

Complete BS.  The type of person who does this doesn't care about anything other than a head on the wall.  High fence animals are not allowed in the record books (except for SCI) and are generally considered to be BS.

/CSB time

So, it's about midnight.  Coming home with a friend of mine from a roller derby bout in Madison.  At about the Wisconsin/Minnesota border, she shouts out "Deer!".

I hit the brakes, and sure enough, there's a deer in front of me.  Gigantic.  Like, impossibly big.  Six feet at the shoulder, at least 26 points, maybe more.  I'm not exaggerating, it's that big.  I stopped in plenty of time, it kind of snorted at me and wandered off, and we drove home.

Found out the story the next Monday.  Big deer farm close to the border.  Some damn fool had gone in the middle of the night and shot one of the deer, and then had to cut a big hole in the fence in order to drag it out.  He put a picture of himself and the deer on Facebook, and got ratted out almost immediately.  It was pretty obvious that it was farm-raised, it weighed twice what a deer in the wild would ever get to, and the antlers were ridiculous.

After he'd left with the deer, 26 other bucks wandered out.  21 stayed close, the other five meandered on to roads and freeways, generating all sorts of reports of super deer wandering our forests.  One of them happened to wander in front of me.

That's not a horrible idea if they were bred for meat instead of antlers, and the hunting was just manually doing a humane slaughter. It doesn't sound that way though.

That said, the article makes me sick. Esp in light of Indiana DNR shooting wounded deer that families have taken in while they healed.

Hmm. Selectively breeding an animal for purposes other than food, health problems resulting from breeding and shipping them around, exorbitant prices for the best bred ones... yeah, this must be stopped. Put dog owners in jail.

Oh, and I thought it was MORE ethical to kill something raised in captivity that exists ONLY to be killed than it was to kill wild animals? Shouldn't this be considered a good thing?

As a hunter, I cannot understand how anyone, but the most worthless wussies on the planet, could ever be proud of a "trophy" killed in a pen. And, I will go one step farther and bet that a good bit of these trophies are not even killed by those piles of shiat that say they killed them inside those fenced areas because they are too damned worthless and weak to aim straight or hunt worth a fark, anyhow (AKA, guides make the kills).
I tried teaching a longtime friend how to hunt a while back. He was from a rather well off family (had nice car from age of 16, college COMPLETELY paid for as in not even needed a loan for 1 cent, grandparents gave them each $20,000 "just to see what they would do with it" -  one put it in a pizza shop that folded in under 6 months - and so on), didn't even have a gun to use and had to take him to learn to shoot it, first.
I thought teaching him would be easy - nooooooooo. Almost impossible to walk quietly. While fanned out, I come up over a hill and put my hand up to motion 'stop', then to my lips to indicate 'shhhhhh', point forward then to my eyes, forward again and walking motion with fingers to indicate I see a deer walking ahead... and it was a NICE, trophy quality buck.. and knowing him, he would have gladly had it mounted (then not even wanted it and gave it to me lol). Nope, his immediate reaction was to literally scream out, "WHAT!?!" to which the deer took off running like you'd shot it in the ass with rocksalt...  Simply, raised up and said let's go before I knocked him out.
Some want to say they've hunted... but, never want to actually try and hunt. And, I just have a strong feeling in my chest that there are a lot of them using this place in the article.

/rant over - yes, article pissed me off
//ps: nice boobies pix.. except that one sort'a looks like a guy/was a guy/whatever (sets off my "NOPE-dar")
