I don't think you farkers realize where this is. Prince Edward Island is SMALL. This probably wipes out the homeless population of Charolettown.

If the owners knew, or should have known, people were accessing the building they could be liable for not properly securing it. If any neighbouring properties were damaged in the fire their owners / insurance companies could come after the owners of the abandoned building. Just a couple of examples, there are others depending on the exact circumstances.

I'm handling an unoccupied building for a client right now and as a condition of insurance someone has to check the site daily, all fencing and gates must be secured, we had to install fencing to a height of 6 feet around the entire property, etc., and this is just for liability. We've applied for a demolition permit, so the structure is not insured.
