The thing that amuses me most about this is that he's keeping up his totally bogus "I might run for President' scam.

He won't, because he doesn't want the scrutiny of his financial history he'd get.  It would reveal that he's not nearly as rich as he claims.  He says he's worth at least $10 billion, Forbes says it's probably more like $3 billion, and other sources say it's less than that.

I mean, it would be a "who cares" thing if Trump didn't respond to any criticism of him by saying he's worth at least three times what he really is.

That's the nice thing about living in a country with free, mandated health care.  Here in Canada, if someone says "It's my right to refrain from doing healthy things, it's my right to ingest dangerous things, and it's my right to get sick!" we can say "Not if the rest of us are paying for your hospital bills"

You have to admit, as far as "rich guy who supports right wing causes", he's not as deadly as the Koch brothers about it. The Kochs are like The Red Skull and Apocalypse, where as Trump is more like Paste Pot Pete.

Autism is a birth defect, not something that happens years later. The likely cause of it and other disorders being more common is because so many couples are delaying having children until they are over 30, and genetic damage has happened to their sperm and egg cells already.

Here is some evidence: Autism is going up primarily in white children, especially in well-to-do families, not minorities who conceive their children in their late teens and twenties.

Thing is, this actually might be something that a President could monkey with.

The FDA governs what is and is not medically-acceptable. Among those things that they govern includes medical protocols for procedures and treatments. A President could appoint a Secretary of Health and Human Services and other senior staff members of the FDA that could then approve a different protocol for childhood vaccinations.

Unless Congress has passed laws specifically targeting childhood vaccinations, the executive branch has the authority to make policy on the matter.

When your kids eats a clump of dirt in the backyard when you're not looking, it's a much bigger load of antigens to the immune system than most vaccines.

When people say "massive doses" they have nothing on which to base that judgment.

I suggest you get all vaccines as recommended by the Advisory Committee of Immunization Practices.  The guidelines are evidence-based, and written by experts in the field.

"The problem is, it comes with some very significant consequences. There's a woman who came up crying to me tonight after the debate. She said her daughter was given that vaccine. She told me her daughter suffered mental retardation as a result of that vaccine. There are very dangerous consequences. It's not good enough to take, quote, "a mulligan" where you want a do-over, not when you have little children's lives at risk."

2014-03-29 12:59:38 PM
As much as I hate to admit it, having to bite my tongue to say this, the Donald is correct. Multiple vaccines at once have a bit more risk than spreading them out over time. There is no more risk to most but those with immune system irregularities might have some issues and in infants you don't know they have immune system issues until you give them their first series. etc.

2014-03-29 01:00:22 PM
Only in a country where your kids can be expected to survive childhood do people have the luxury of being skeptical of something with such a great proven  track record as vaccination.

He'd do it but not for the reasons you think. It's about business. We don't have enough supply for everyone so lets get rid of some and we can then charge a premium for the rest. A visionary hero if you ask me.

ElLoco: I have no idea if there is any science behind this, but it's certainly less derpy-sounding that a lot of stuff I read here.

There isn't any science behind it. It's based on a fundamental misunderstanding of how your immune system functions on their part.

Touching your keyboard, you have been exposed to more antigenic agents than a series of vaccines will ever expose you to.

2014-03-29 01:05:37 PM
Well...

On one side we have the collective body of medical knowledge from all over the world, virtually all doctors and medical researchers and public health experts from all over the world, with several million collective years of medical experience and education between them, backed up by multiple studies from all over the world that have looked at millions of children and adults and in come cases the entire nation's population.

And on the other side we have Jenny McCarthy, a former Playboy centerfold with no university education, and a flawed and tiny study that didn't even suggest there was a causative link between vaccinations and autism.

This sure is a tough one.

That's my opinion as well. I mean, why can't I go every week or two instead of like five f*cking shots at once? First, it has gotta hurt more (one shot vs eight million with my kids elicited different responses) and it seems like at least a few days to give the crap time to settle in and get the body ok with it wouldn't hurt. I am not an immunologist or doctor. And I'm all for vaccines, just nicer to spread it out a little, imo.
