I think vegas has them below 63 wins this year. I don't really care how many games they win anymore, I just want to watch them play. fark comcast.

Marmilman: fark comcast.

I just did.  3 service calls, 3 different techs for the same problem (pixelation and sound drop) within a month that they didn't fix was enough for me.  But the final straw was they jacked-up my bill (I had come off a promo) in the midst of this and refused to do anything about that either.  So I deducted $60 from my bill  (20 each for 3 failed attempts to correct the problem as per THEIR policy) and paid the balance.   FIOS gets installed Monday.   Tying back into the topic, I'm not real thrilled about it because Verizon doesn't carry any Philly channels in HD, and I'm a Philly sports fan.

As an Astros fan, let me say one thing:

I want a Hoes jersey.

That is all & all aboard the Ho Train.

The line could be 60 wins & they won't get that either.

Since Minute Maid Park was Enron Field, I wouldn't be surprised if they report the 12 fans as 12,000, then inflate the amount of concessions sold by a factor of at least five.

I was invited to an Astros minor league camp once, and was asked to attend one of the camps for minor league to give a shot, I figured why not I had nothing to lose. I showed up and was sent to the press box, I met with the dugout manager (the guy in charge of food, operations for the astros minor league). I asked him "how many fans can the park hold?" He jokingly looked at me and was like "1224 total". He tried to keep a straight face for a minute, but burst out laughing and told me "Currently we only hold 12 fans to the left of home plate and 24 to the right", most are parents or girlfriends of the players.

/I figured before I joined the military, I wanted to see if I maybe had a shot for minor league, Apparently I wasn't even worth a second look for what its worth, although I did get the invite - which is more then I thought I would.

Most announced attendance figures include all the season tickets sold regardless of whether or not they go through the turnstile.

As long as there's baseball in Florida, the Astros aren't the biggest joke attendance-wise. As bad as Houston is on the field, the Rays, a wild card team, and the Marlins, a team with a new stadium (2nd season is still "new" right?), drew worse last year. The other team? Cleveland. And Cleveland is, well, Cleveland.

Welcome to Minute Maid Park, which used to be called Enron Field before all the people at Enron got thrown in the hoosegow.
On the field today, you'll find the Major League Houston Astros being soundly trounced by their AA affiliate.
While you watch, feel free to eat all the slop unfit to feed the homeless, which are housed about two blocks north of the ballpark. Be sure to wave at them as they steal your car from the parking lot.

/ The Astros have sucked for so long, Houstonians have forgotten what it was like to have a major league baseball team in town.

Didn't they go to the World Series in 2005? Who'd they lose to? White Sox? I know that means diddly squat now, but I agree, short memories.

Now look, subster, that was not a very fair headline. Houston is a very large city & Minute Maid is a very nice park. Plenty of transplants go every year to watch their favorite team beat the Astros.

Granted, 3 straight years with less than 60 wins will cause a lot of brain cells to get fried, but yeah, up until 5 or 6 years ago, I think they had 2 losing seasons in 15 years.

When the stadium first opened, I had a job that would put me in the Four Seasons for a couple nights at a time every once in awhile. If things worked out right, I could walk to the stadium for a game at the end of the day, and a single seat was usually a very good one. Nice gig on those occasions.

/csb time:

A few years back, I had Dish and my contract had expired. Back then, the Fox Sports West HD channels were only on when a game was on.

I swear for like a month straight, the HD feed for the Dodgers games wouldn't come on until the 3rd or 4th inning. I called customer service (India of course) and the guy just couldn't what my complaint was. My big issue was that I was paying extra ($10 a month or something like that) for HD and I wasn't getting what I paid for. The CSR kept trying to get me to reset my receiver, etc. Finally, I told him to have a nice day and made an appointment with Direct and cancelled Dish.

A few days later, I got a call from a Dish guy asking why I left, could they do anything to keep me (think my Direct was already installed, so no) and I explained my issue. The guy who called me was from the States and told me 'Honestly, during baseball season we just don't have the bandwith to have over a certain amount of games on in HD. When the East Coast games run late, you guys have to wait'. I told him that if I had talked to him a few nights before that it may have changed my mind because he actually answered my question. I still didn't like the answer, but it was at least an explanation.
