Breakfast cutoff is noon in Singapore on the weekend.

And they deliver.

This is pointless. We all know Taco Bell will be the only survivor of the fast food wars.

I've been reading all the hate here regarding TB's foray into the breakfast market with amusement. I recall back when they started a breakfast menu for a limited time in '06 or 7 how damn good it was. Huge tortilla stuffed with potatoes, fluffy scrambled eggs, onions and cheese. It was far better than the other fast food options. /anyone else recall how good it was?

I for one actually like McDonalds. The double cheeseburgers are good, my local ones have free wi-fi, and they don't give a shiat if I sit around for two hours to bullshiat around on the internet and write pointlessly. The good, by and large, is crap, but at least I'll never pay for their delicious, delicious fries for the foreseeable future (taking the online survey gets a free order of fries).

Free "coffee" might make me like them a little more. I do like a McGriddle...

I live and work near a bunch of fast food places and almost never go to the McDonalds. It's not a spiteful thing, it's just that every other restaurant has a better version of everything on their menu except for the fries. I can stand their chicken sandwiches but the burgers are just shameful.

Fark Taco Bell.

Best chance they had was when "Demolition Man" said in the future all restaurants are Taco Bell.

I'm still trying to figure out the 3 seashells.

And yet coffee is so cheap and so easy to make at home.

I'm super-farking lazy in the kitchen and usually quite frugal, but even I can dump some beans in a coffee maker, fill it with water and set the timer.  And before I had the fancy coffee maker with the grinder and the timer, I'd prepare it and when I woke up I would just turn it on.

It's so cheap that I even leave what I can't drink before I leave sitting there and then I throw it out.

And then I drive by Starbucks on the way to work and see people waiting in their drive-thru and I think, WTF?

And the coffee I make at home is better than that shiat they serve at Starbucks

I wish both options were available 24 hrs. Sometimes I want a sausage mcmuffin at night. Sometimes I want chicken nuggets with honey dipping sauce in the a.m.

Weirdly, Sonic does this, but they seem to have closed roughly half their locations near me.

I just tried Taco Bell breakfast. I was the only one there in the restaurant. She kept trying to get me to put syrup on the waffle taco thingie.  Which... OK, now we're involving cutlery.  Also, salsa?

The only two things I ever ate at McDonald's were the McSkillet Burrito for breakfast, and the Arch Deluxe.  Both are now canceled. Fark 'em.  Fark 'em and die.

/Chick-Fil-A has the best breakfasts of any of 'em, but I'm normally a late riser.

I remember getting awesome breakfast potato burritos at Taco Bell in about 1993 in southern Illinois, it was really good stuff. Maybe it's just group hysteria.

Fark Taco Bell.

Internet hate aside, their breakfast is pretty good for fast food.

2014-03-29 09:54:28 AM
They have been doing this a few times a year in Canada for the past 4 or 5 years.  This practice gained them huge inroads to the drive through coffee market that was previously dominated by Tim Hortens.  They had a superior product, superior pricing (if you consider the coffee cards that give you every 7th cup free)  a superior cup and accepted debit payments where initially Tims was cash only and yet nothing moved the market.  They offered free coffee to get people interested and they had success.

That thing subway sells is not pizza. I don't care what their marketing dept. says. That's only the second time I've thrown a meal away (the first was when I tried the mcrib *blech*)

Free coffee worked for McDonald's in Canada against the virtual Tim Horton's coffee monopoly. Tim's isn't going anywhere yet but until rather recently nobody but sad truck drivers at rest stops would be seen drinking McDonald's coffee. The coffee is actual pretty decent and combined with a hash brown is a very tasty and effective laxative.

Don't waste your money on that subway crapfest of a pizza. It tastes godawful. Marinara sauce isn't meant for pizza.

maram500: I for one actually like McDonalds.

Yeah me too.  I guess I can see the McC/TB hate, though.  Too many people rely on junk food too often.  I'm only at either of them a few times a year or less, it seems, the last few years.  But I still enjoy the Filet O- Fish the best of all the junk food fish sammiches.  And I've loved Big Macs since a kid.  They really aren't what they used to be compared to the 70's though.

I usually don't get anything that uses meat at Taco Bell.  I make a home-made habanero sauce and sometimes I like to grab a 7-layer burrito (or two) and load it up w/ the home-made sauce.  Nothing like adding some habanero to that bathroom experience the next morning!

As far as breakfast menus, there's very little I've liked about any of them ever.  An egg McMuffin (the original kind) is OK, but the breakfast burrito is what I usually go for.  So if Taco Bell did an egg burrito thing I'd probably be down w/ that.  Add a bunch of their green sauce -- yeah, that'd work.

2014-03-29 10:29:56 AM
McDonalds coffee tastes like McDonalds everything else.  I can't really describe it.  It is like there is some kind of New Jersey McDonald's chemical that their food is drenched in... Just like South Park and the fart burgers allude to.

I used to travel for work, driving 4-8 hours one way.  I always tried to get decent coffee before I left and when I'd arrive in a town to avoid the gas station/fastfood coffee.  Let me just say this.  On 3 separate occassions, at 3 separate McDonalds, I purchased a cup of their coffee.  All 3 times I had to emergency stop on the side of the road to vomit.  Maybe with a larger sample size I'd get a few stops without puking, but after the 3rd time I saw the pattern and stopped going.

sonic used to be the epitome of excellence in terms of customer service and proper procedure. The quality of food in General is a matter of personal preference, but you used to get good consistency otherwise. Lately, however, I've gotten nothing but laughably bad service and cold food (and cold food to replace cold food). It's like kitchen nightmares on a fast food level. The reason nobody goes there is because you'll get the worst service and old cold food with zero attempt to try to make it right. They advertise constantly where I'm at like that will fix their problem instead of getting their shiat together. I've been to a few on my trips a couple states over and it's the same story at each one.
