Sure, but every time a whale opens its mouth it'll get a few gallons of water a second pushed inside. No wonder it pisses like a race horse.

Yeah, but they never write their name in snow, do they?

Which is why fin whales never get invited on road trips.
"Pull over - I gotta pee!"
"What, again?"

So can we officially blame global warming on fin whales peeing in the ocean?

/Lawl, monthly consumpution of beer in a frat at only 17 kegs a month?

I wonder how the intestines of oceanic mammals are different than terrestrial.  If we tried to drink seawater we would die of dehydration because we can't absorb the water right, but whales and dolphins can.

When a blue whale nuts, about 300 gallons of fluid are pushed into the vagina, and about 30 gallons actually stay in there.

And that's why the sea tastes salty.

Wow.  How large would their testicles need to be to produce 300 gallons of semen?

Actually, marine mammals swallow as little water as possible, and get nearly all of their water from their food itself and from energy metabolism (one of the products of aerobic respiration is water, which comes from reducing oxygen at the end of the electron transport chain in mitochondria). Their renal systems are really for getting rid of salts (as well as the standard nitrogenous wastes), and cetaceans tend to produce urine with a greater salt concentration than sea water.

Active salt excretion and water retention is probably pretty much a constant battle, which helps explain the large amount of urine produced by fin whales. Also, they are huge creatures, and I don't doubt that the amount of urine is somewhat proportional to their body size.

You realize that those implications aren't mutually exclusive?
