Meh.  The Phillies were already the first pro team in the history of ever to surpass 10,000 losses.  After that (and 1964) not much else can compare.

You realize there's still a lottery and the Lakers could very well end up with the first pick.

Didn't they open the season beating the Heat?

The only way this steak could be more entertaining would be if their next game was against cleveland.  After cleveland beats them, A small retarded child in a cavalier jersey comes out with a torch and hands the torch to another small retarded child wearing a sixers jersey who then proceeds to run out of the arena with it and down the street.  That should be only way this record should be broken.

Anyone watch the Heat/Pacers game from a few days ago?  It was like the Playoffs came early. The East is atrocious (better recently) but these teams are awesome to watch. They hate each other and it shows. Over the last two seasons the Pacers have the 7-6 edge.

Less than three weeks until Playoff ball and I can't farking wait. The West will be the West, the Bulls/Raptors/Nets are interesting, the 7 and 8 seeds in the West are still in question, and the top two teams in the East are on a collision course.

Enjoy the end of the season!

I'm just an annoyed Mavs fan that can't stand the fact that my team would crush in the east while always having to battle even in the first round for over a decade. The East has sucked since Jordan retired and it's getting out of hand at this point. It's a new low this year, never seen a conference/league suck this much in any major North American sport ever in my whole sports watching life. The only thing that compares is the NBA Eastern conference in previous years. Get it together Eastern Conference!

I hope they can get it together before they force the league to dissolve the conferences. People want that but I like the rivalries.I know it doesn't mean much but Dirk has been awesome this season. I hope they go on a run. Love that guy.

Well maybe if you just keep the divisions you can keep the regional rivalries while making sure the actual top half of the league still makes the playoffs. There's creative ways to keep the divisions while killing the conferences. I do wonder why the East just can't improve as a conference, the whole East coast bias would seem to work in their favor.

They play the Pistons next, so breaking the record is in doubt.

2014-03-28 06:44:22 AM
No conferences but division winners get at least a spot in the top 8. All other spots based on best record overall. You play more games in the division but no longer more games in conference.

The over in the over/under of 16.5 total wins looked like an easy bet earlier this season.

Not so much now. Looking at their schedule, they could very easily lose out.

Is this really a big deal? Would it somehow be better if they won 1 or 2 out of those 26 games? They suck, they knew they were going to suck at the beginning of the year and they committed to sucking the whole year for better draft position.

So it doesn't seem like a big deal that they, you know, suck.

But It's historical! I guess, but when you're completely ok with losing because draft lottery, it kinda takes the sheen off of losing all the time, like hey we tried to lose and we're losing!

Gotta love those Hawks.  Always middle of the road.

I want what is best for the competition.  If that is dissolving conferences, then cool.  Selfishly, I really like those Cavs/Wizards and Grizz/Clippers early round rivalries that are a result of the conference structure but there isnt any reason to think rivalries would disappear.

Swap the Pacers, Heat, Raptor, Bulls and Nets with NO, Sacramento, Lakers, Utah and Denver.. and just start the Western Conference as the Tier 1 conference, and start religation/demotion in the NBA.   I'm sure the Lakers would perk back up to get back to Tier 1 next year.

Oh I don't think the players are trying to lose. I think they don't care which translates to losing, because as you said the organization basically wants them to lose and that attitude has obviously trickled down to the players.

It's kinda like the plot from Major League but instead of losing so they can move the team they're losing so the can get a chance at...Embid? Parker? Wiggins?

Curious, if they tie with the Bucks, do they split the odds or is there a tie-breaker to determine who gets the #1 seed odds.

By the time January rolled around, Simmons and Jalen had soured on the draft. They still think it's a deep draft but there aren't any franchise-changing players. "There's no 2003 LeBron in this class. There's no 2007 Durant. What are people talking about?" They also really love Embiid because he looks coordinated while running, unlike Andrew Bynum.

From what I've seen, people aren't as impressed as they were before they saw these guys actually play. Of course as we get closer to the draft the hype machine will build them back up.

I don't think there are any can't miss prospects. I think Parker will be the best pro. Embid is still a little unknown with the injury and with his what like 3 years of experience. Smart has a chance to be good if he doesn't go full head case. Anyone else is probably a crap shoot.

You're right though.  Putting up that record, against that competition, as a team that was thinking they'd be a 3-4 seed?  They're a dumpster fire, don't trick yourself into thinking otherwise.

Yes, I do.  But the way the NBA sets up the lottery for the first pick, it definitely favors the team with the worst record.  Which I hope ends up going to Philadelphia because, given their history with draft picks and trades means they should end up with the mutt of the draft.
