(Huffington Post UK)   Uh yeah, that's a tugboat towing a ship off the Canary Islands, not a passenger jet crash. You Spanish airport officials need some glasses   (huffingtonpost.co.uk) divider line 15

At least it wasn't Tenerife all over again.

If I was a "Black" box, I'd be doing it in "White" face just for the grins.

Looks like a plane from dry land - but maybe the authorities should've got the binoculars out before raising the alarm.

It appears to be a member of the public that raised the alarm, within 8 minutes it was all sorted.

Not much to see here.

FTFComments: "I'm not saying I wouldn't have mistaken a boat for a plane, I'm just querying if we've really got our top people on this?"

See kids? That is quality snark.

It's not a boat, it's a schooner.

It does look like a plane. It's not wrong to check, and not wrong to put out an initial alert before verifying that it is in fact a plane, since those things sink like the bricks they essentially are when they hit the water. It's easy enough to call the rescue boats back.

Non-story.
