I really don't care so long as it doesn't turn into a soggy mess. And goes easy on the damn mayo (if it's used at all). Wifey builds sandwiches just so and if we don't have lettuce or tomato in the house? Nah, no sandwich. It's got to be there.

2014-03-27 03:01:22 PM
I don't really take pictures of my food, but my go-to lately has been a fried egg/grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough.

I make a pretty mean egg sandwich that's made entirely of cheese and things fried in butter

2014-03-27 03:02:25 PM
Is this a sex thing?

The perfect sandwich is a crisp corn tortilla, shaped into a large "U" and then filled with seasoned ground beef or shredded pork and topped with lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream.

Perfect. Sandwich.

French's Dijon mustard is awfully tasty, like surprisingly good, and it's only about two bucks a bottle at Mal-Wart. It makes sandwiches awesome.

The best sandwiches are made from yesterday's crock pot meat.

Thanksgiving sandwiches are the best.
farm3.static.flickr.com
Ingredients:
2 slices of bread
Mashed potatoes
Turkey
Stuffing/Dressing
Gravy
Cranberries
Directions:
Spread mashed potatoes on both slices of bread, making sure you have enough around the edges to hold everything else in.
Layer the turkey, gravy, stuffing/dressing, and cranberries on one slice of bread.  Put the other slice of bread on top, adding more mashed potatoes around the edges as needed.
Place a large skillet over medium-low heat.  Lightly butter the top and bottom of the sandwich, then grill, flipping once, until golden brown on both sides.

Yes my sandwich must look perfect and have precise ingredients that must be used with an exact order for optimal enjoyment.
Or else I throw it at the wall and tell her to make another one.

I've been making breakfast sandwiches with egg, cheese, and bacon on an English muffin (aka American crumpet).

Sometimes I make something a little more lunchy.

I'm not picky about my sammich.

2014-03-27 04:54:51 PM
grilled chicken, prosciutto, mozzarella or smoked gouda, pesto, mayo, lettuce and tomato

2014-03-27 04:58:41 PM
Peanut butter, mayonnaise, banana and honey.

2014-03-27 05:03:58 PM
The mustard goes on the bottom where the meat is and the mayo goes on the top where the veggies are.

2014-03-27 05:04:11 PM
It has to be perfect; No substitutes.

Potato bun
grilled breakfast chops (conecuh seasoned)
tomato slice
lettuce
sweet/hot pickle slices
carolina style bbq sauce
served with Golden Flake "sweet heat" chips.

A Reuben.

Fixed that for how it rolls (see what I did there) at our house.

I would make a turkey bacon avocado cucumber tomato havarti cheese sprouts on a potato bun.  It was huge.  It was at this restaurant I worked in, wrapped it in foil to enjoy at home after work.  Farker looked like a jiffy pop popcorn container.

How YOU doin'?

2014-03-27 05:09:42 PM
Two fried eggs, melted cheese, bacon, on sourdough - a good English muffin also works. With a little ghost chili sauce and mayo. That and a good cup of strong black coffee is a damn fine breakfast.

And just put the damn mustard between the meat and cheese if I'm expected to take a sandwich to work. If you put the mustard on the bread, it ends up totally tasteless by lunch time.

2014-03-27 05:10:12 PM
I enjoy every sandwich.

I just found a place to buy Durkee's Sauce locally. That generally improves my overall sandwich experience.

The Platonian ideal of the sandwich:

Thick slices of bread, still warm from the oven
Four slices of thick cut bacon, cooked until crisp. If you hold it by the middle, it should stick straight out.
One roma tomato cut into lengthwise slices
Freshly made mayo

Assemble, then eat before the rest of the family realizes what's up and asks you to share your hard-earned bacon.

Oh, and while we're here, let's also explore the proper sandwich cut.  Forget the corner-to-corner cut, or the bisect-the-sandwich cut.  The best way to cut a sandwich is 1/3 to 2/3.  That is, cut from 1/3 down the side, to 2/3 down the other side.  You still get a good width to grab, and a decent bite out of the narrow end.

I just put two pieces of plain white toast together, and BAM, perfect sandwich. Can't fark that up.

I could show you, but then I'd have to kill you.  Oh what the hell, cook a pork butt shoulder roast low and slow all day with brown sugar, garlic and Root Beer or Dr. Pepper.
. What you don't eat today becomes tomorrows wondermous pork sammiches with mayo on soft white bread.

Sandwiches are all about the bread. If you have good bread what's inside it is just a bonus. If your bread is bad, no matter what you put on it it's going to suck.

Partial to Reubens. And anything in sourdough. And Cuban sandwiches.

Our take on the French dip sandwich:

img.fark.net

1 flank steak
2 C. red wine
1 Tbsp onion powder
1/2 Tbsp meat tenderizer powder
Salt and pepper to taste

Place flank steak in a large ziplock bag
Combine wine and spices, and pour over meat
Seal bag, removing as much air as possible
Marinade in refrigerator about four hours

This is best grilled, but you can broil if weather or circumstances don't permit.  Grill about four to six minutes on a side, then wrap in foil and let rest about 20 minutes.  While resting, warm up your au jus

Do a bias slice across the grain and pile onto sturdy crusty rolls
Add a slice of provolone if that's your thing
Serve and enjoy.

Pressed cuban sandwich with a deviled crab from Brocato's in Tampa. Crusty cuban bread with mayo and mustard with ham, genoa salami, mojo roast pork, swiss cheese and pickles lightly buttered and heated in a sandwich press. With or without lettuce and tomato.
BEST THING EVER!

Where are y'all at? When I was growing up you could only get them in Tampa but I understand they've gotten popular other places. Are they on cuban bread with palm leaves on top?
