(Slate)   No, you can't float around your house on "Zero G Day" on April 4th. Just like on January 4. And March 4   (slate.com) divider line 35

What if you lived in the Vomit Comet?  You could float around your house any day you liked!

So if zero-g day isn't on April 4th then what day is it really on? Why doesn't the article address this?

It's obviously a fake. Pluto isn't even a planet.

Came for Kate Upton, leaving almost satisfied, but it's better in GIF form.

Problem is I can't find a GIF small enough to be accepted by FARK.

This one again? It's right up there with the "Mars is bigger than the moon" thing.  Which I've had a lot of fun with...

A (gullible) coworker once asked me if I was going to be out with a telescope on one of those alleged "giant Mars" nights. So I improvised a quick demonstration. I held a baseball and stood ten feet away from him. Then I told another coworker to walk two blocks down the road with a basketball. And I asked the first guy what possible set of circumstances could ever make the basketball look larger than the baseball.

Not sure whatever happened to him. But hopefully, he became very skeptical of forwarded emails after that day.

So, of course, remember to bring an oxygen tank with you on the 4th, when gravity disappears, all the air pressure is going to push our atmosphere out into space.

The good news is that if you like your planetary atmosphere, you can keep it.

I checked on it too.

"April Fourth Two Thousand Fourteen"

Yeah, love how nobody thinks this one through. You're not "floating around your house"... it's more like "the end of the world is coming."

Guys, guys. We're going about this all wrong. We shouldn't debunk this. We should add to it. Enhance it. Make the derps believe.

For instance: If you're weightless then so is the rest of the stuff in your house. I hope you have all your sharp-and-pointies securely tethered. Keep a close eye on small children or pets.

Meh, it won't be as good as zero-g day when I was a boy...we'd have astronaut pudding and light off whizzlers nail bombs all night, and we drank grape soda made from real grape leaves! The lack of gravity made time all slippery too..."until the dogs tried to eat the onion on your belt" we'd say...

And because of the suspension of the ozone layer, wear lots of sunscreen.

This is just what they want you to think. It's it safe to go outside? Yes, they say. You won't float away into outer space and die, they say. Well they're not getting rid of me that easily! I shall stay indoors that day and survive.

2014-03-28 12:14:05 PM
No, no, you guys don't get it. See, you'll actually feel heavier on that day, because the planetary alignment will be pulling the Earth up harder against your feet. Because you're mostly water, you're actually pretty soft, so the gravitational pull on you is pretty weak. But because the Earth's core is made of iron, it's a whole lot denser and it'll be pulled a lot harder by the gravitational pull from the planetary alignment. So, since the ground is being pulled up towards you more than you're being pulled up by the planets, you'll actually weigh more on that day if you get on the scales.

A coworker really walked two blocks away with a basketball to prove how smrt you are?  If you're going to make up a story it should at least be a little believable.

I got a huge laugh when someone spammed the whole office with that bullshiat.  The icing on the cake was that he did it on the day AFTER the purported magical night.
