Arkanaut: It would be hilarious if China takes over Vladivostok and the Maritime Province and holds a referendum there, you know, just for shiats and giggles.  Supposedly Chinese migrant workers have been pouring into Siberia over the last few decades.

I don't know about Chinese, but I know Vladivostok has a large Korean population.  Hilariously, their largest ethnic minority is Ukrainian.  Maybe we should take steps to protect the Ukrainian people in Vladivostok.

Anyone going to miss any of those on your atlas/globe at home, speak now or forever hold your peace.

My globe still shows the USSR on it, which may be true again soon, that's frugality right there

I like how the headline talks about regions that can be annexed from Russia, and more than half of them had treaties stating that they were Russian, or are only disputed by a few random people, like in Karelia's case. (Although, for the record, "The Karelian Isthmus" by Amorphis is one rad early 90s death metal album).

My globe still has the Austro-Hungarian Empire on it. Maybe that will be back someday too?
(but I wouldn't hold my breath for either one)

Oh yeah?  My globe is flat!

HairyNevus: Yeah, I wonder what the world would be like if Russia never sold that to the U.S. What would a Russian Sarah Palin be like?

I'm glad we bought Alaska from Russia.

Russia can have Sarah Palin though, at no cost.

/Let us start a petition or hold a referendum on deporting Sarah, shall we?
