I, for one, welcome this historic meeting between senior figures in Christianity and Islam.

2014-03-27 08:43:56 AM
It's reported that meeting ran several minutes longer than was planned. History will show that this meeting marked the beginning of the end of the civilized world and the start of 1,000 years of socialist darkness.

N0bama once again undercut American business by giving the Pope seeds from the White House garden instead of superior patented Monsanto seeds.

You know what I want to see? The Dalai Lama and Pope Francis meeting. Yes, there will be outrage from some folks, but Pope Francis is exactly what the Catholics needed, and the current Dalai Lama is exactly the figure that the Tibetans needed and has risen to the occasion. Both assumed roles that while coveted by some, and Francis is using the position to do what is necessary for his Church and its people. I suspect that the two would have a lot to talk about.

Maybe Obama will invite a homeless person for dinner instead of the billionaires that are usually there.

shanrick: What does the Fox say?

The Fox will have to try to put all the blame for the opposition to the wealth gap, unrestrained capitalism and trickle-down on Obama and just gloss over how the Pope agrees.

Coming up Next: Obama disrespects the history of the White House, invites filthy vagrant to supper with the Pope! Our Fox News correspondents will investigate whether this homeless man has any ties to Obama's knowledge of the tragic events in Benghazi. Plus: White House insiders report that Obama allowed the man to take leftovers with him in a, quote, "doggie bag", we'll examine the reasons that Obama may have such obvious disdain for our nations more unfortunate citizens.

My wife looked at me like I was from another planet when I pointed out the La Cucaracha thing before buckling up in her Passat.  Thanks, I appreciate the validation!

I'll bet they consumed crackers in a most egregious fashion too!

Then again, after the last couple of elections, the president has shown he's pretty good at eating crackers for lunch.

Aw, come on, is that the most you can come back with?  Little stevie has been all over the threads recently, trying his hardest.  But he hasn't been getting a ton of bites, or at least not enough in proportion to his efforts.  I feel a little bad for him, and here you are, coming back at him with one concise sentence.  Have a heart, man.

Is he?  Don't get me wrong, as a liberal atheist I'm no fan of the Catholic church nor several of Obama's economic ideals but really this is a pretty benign pope (especially compared to the evil previous one) and Obama's a fairly benign pro-corporate president.

So you support the $15 minimum wage then, like all Americans who value hard work and the people out there working on the front lines of the workplace?

You mean both sides are bad?

My God, I'd never thought about that or even heard it before. This is truly earth-shattering. I need to think about this for while, because my world view is being seriously challenged here. This is heavy stuff, man.

Keep in mind though that just because some atheists annoy you on the internet, it isn't at all like Fox.  It's the difference between being a jerk and being almost certainly correct and being a jerk and being intentionally and demonstrably incorrect.  Plus most of the atheists I know that are assholes about their atheism are that way because they've had their life impacted in very negative ways by religious people.  It looks like the Fox people are assholes just because it's profitable and they're not intelligent enough to make that kind of money honestly.

I'll be satisfied with a Holy High Five.

On the other hand: I would also love to see the Fox and Friends' reaction to an Obama/Francis fist bump...

As was pointed out by another Farker, the Republican party has effectively turned into a political religion. So it's no surprise your former boss is having problems... It's very difficult for any person to reconcile two different religious philosophies at the same time - especially when those philosophies oppose each other.

born_yesterday: "Great.  I wonder how much THIS meeting cost the American taxpayer!"

Since the Philly police couldn't guarantee the safety of Rev Jeremiah Wright or the historic black church he wanted to visit in Philly, lets just estimate what Francis' visit would cost: in public servant overtime, given it took decades longer than most to discover any Catholic clergy pedophiles in Hoagieland since the same public servants referred all complaints back to the Catholic church.

Except for that the atheists are trying to get a bunch of brain washed troglodytes to see science as better than fiction, and Fox is trying to get a bunch of troglodytes to agree with their fiction which is far easier if they have been previously conditioned for it.  So you get a participation ribbon like Steve.
