I wonder if the Koch's did simultaneous facepalms when she blurted that.

Probably not.  Regardless of the argument, the message would be received by those who thoughtlessly agree with her.  But on the other hand, they're probably not watching MSNBC.

Remember when Bush extended the deadline for Medicare Part D and Democrats launched a full-court media blitz in an attempt to destroy the law and the President?

Barry Lyndon's Annuity Cheque: I flipped over to this for about a minute last night before I had to turn it off. It was a live action Fark troll thread that was unbearable.

I watched this last night, and I was completely enthralled. It's just like you said: a live-action Fark troll thread. She was the perfect conservative mouthpiece: It's not how you say it, but how LOUD. Don't engage in conversation, JUST YELL. Don't be understanding, FIND SOME KIND OF SLIGHT, REAL OR IMAGINED, AND SCREAM! Also, make everything about "the children". So using this woman's playbook, allow me to retort.

*ahem*

So since I don't have children, that makes my opinion not as important? Are you the one who decides what I should get in my life, sister? Get out of my business! WHAAARRRGARRBLLLLL!!!

Now I feel dirty, and not in a good way. Seriously, it was a ridiculous piece, and nothing was learned from that five to seven minutes of bullshiat other than she had no real argument against Obamacare and the mean mean Chris Hayes, who's about as threatening as milk, almost made her cry.

2014-03-27 10:44:48 AM
I watched that last night. She was a raving lunatic who's idea of "winning" an argument is to simply scream inanities louder than anybody else can ask rational questions. Her talking points were laughably moronic.

"I WAS BORN IN A TRAILER PARK! YOU DON'T KNOW ME! YOU DON'T KNOW MY PAIN!"

I'm thinking that will be her only appearance on MSNBC. Maybe Fox can give it a shot next time, as long as she doesn't blow up in their face as well. She'd probably be great with her own radio show, where she can simply mute or hang up on people who disagree with her, at least until she runs out of whatever black market weight loss product she's fueled with.

Wonkette has a more humorous take.

Hayes: Jennifer, why is extending the ACA enrollment deadline such a bad thing?

Stefano: CHRIS, I'M A MOTHER AND AS A MOTHER I AM AFRAID FOR MY PRECIOUS PRECIOUS BABIES WHO NEED HEALTHCARE AND CAN'T GET IT NOW. BECAUSE CHOICES.

Hayes: Not following you here.

Stefano: MY PRECIOUS CHILDREN CAN'T GET HEALTHCARE. BECAUSE REASONS. OBAMA LIED. I AM SAYING WORDS WITH MY MOUTH.

Hayes: You're saying your children can't get healthcare because this deadline has moved back by two weeks?

Stefano: YOU SEE CHRIS, I PUSH AIR FROM MY LUNGS THROUGH MY VOCAL FOLDS AND MY LARYNX HELPS ADJUST THE PITCH AND TONE, AND THEN THE ARTICULATORS ARTICULATE THE SOUNDS THAT THEN COME OUT THROUGH MY FRIGHTENINGLY PLUMP LIPS. LIKE SO.

Hayes: It's been a while since high school biology so I'll just assume that's accurate.

Stefano: CHRIS, NO ONE WANTS THIS LAW. OBAMACARE. IT IS BAD. WHICH YOU WOULD KNOW IF YOU HAD OVARIES THAT COULD PRODUCE LIFE THAT YOU NOW WANT TO NURTURE AND PROTECT. IF THE LAW CONTINUES WE CAN'T REPEAL IT. NUMBERS. MCKINSEY INSTITUTE. NON-PARTISAN. PEOPLE WITHOUT COVERAGE HAVE COVERAGE BUT CAN'T GET COVERAGE FOR THEIR CHILDREN. WHO HAVE COVERAGE. I WILL NOW USE THE WORD "CHOICE" OVER AND OVER AGAIN SO THAT ALL THE LIBERAL HIPPIE WOMEN WHO WATCH MSNBC WILL SALIVATE LIKE PAVLOV'S DOGS AND MAGICALLY START AGREEING WITH ME. AND THEN THE TEA PARTY WILL TAKE THE SENATE.

Hayes: Let me explain to you why everything you just said is wrong and you are misinterpreting the facts and figures.

Stefano: HOW DARE YOU QUESTION ME. I AM A MOTHER. I GREW UP IN A TRAILER PARK, WHICH NEVER GOT WIPED OUT BY A TORNADO BECAUSE IF A TWISTER WAS APPROACHING I WOULD JUST OPEN MY MOUTH AND BEGIN SPEAKING AND THE FORCE OF MY VOICE WOULD ACT AS A COUNTERMEASURE, PUSHING THE TORNADO AWAY. I WILL NOW ASK YOU AN UNANSWERABLE QUESTION, SMIRK AND SIT BACK. HA HA! GOTCHA, BUDDY!

Hayes: What about Medicaid eligibility?

Stefano: REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS HAVE TAKEN THAT EXPANSION. $94,000 A YEAR IS 133% OF THE POVERTY LEVEL. THAT IS RICH. MORAL ISSUE. I LOVE POOR PEOPLE AND WANT THEM TO HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE. HOW DARE YOU SAY OTHERWISE OR QUESTION MY MOTIVES OR UNDERCUT THE VOICE OF A WOMAN FOR DISAGREEING WITH YOU. LOUD NOISES.

Hayes: Okay, let's end this before my head explodes all over this nice suit my mom bought me.

I for the life of me couldn't figure out where she pulled that $94k from. I guess a family of 10 or more making $94k would be at 133% of poverty level. I guess she just felt she was on a roll and went with the first number that popped into her head without thinking hoping it would slide unnoticed, like liars tend to do. But anyway that is the moment that really turned that interview. You could see in her face once she said that, and Hayes realized what she said, she knew she had farked up and she turned it to super harpy mode. This is what happens when people go into a debate with no facts to support their position, or with a position that can't be logically defended, they make up facts hoping that they will slide, and when they get called on it they try to turn it into a personal attack on them to deflect from the fact that they were full of shiat.

FTA: "I have a real problem, when you talk about raising the poverty level, that's people making$94,000 a year," she said. "They're not poor. That is taking resources from the poor."

133% of poverty is $94,000 a year?  Where the fark did she get that number?  Poverty line for a family of 8 is $39,630/year with 133% of that being 52,707.90.. if 94k is 133%, of poverty, that'd put poverty at 70,676,70/yr, meaning 16 people in the household (4,020 per person after 8)...

So either she has 15 to 16 kids (no mention of father), or full of shiat.

Also, according to the video, the extension is only for people that have begun to enroll but haven't completed the process; those that haven't bothered to do anything at all to find coverage don't get an extension.

2014-03-27 12:00:23 PM

ongbok: I for the life of me couldn't figure out where she pulled that $94k from.

PPACA subsidies are phased out at 400% of federal poverty level. For a family of 4 in 2013, that was $94k/yr.

The number the conversation was about was the number for expanded Medicaid coverage, which is 133% of FPL, so she was off by a factor of 3.

Responding to points made in different responses here:

$94k would either be 133% of poverty for a household of 16, or else it's poverty for a household of 21.

The whole personal attack attack bit is a hoot.  I don't watch network or cable news (I seriously rely on Fark for the majority of my news), so I really know nothing about the host, Chris Hayes, but I was watching the video wondering why this lady was even on.  Once she fell apart like that I couldn't help but wonder why some random extreme opponent of the ACA, ignorant of both realty and of enough talking points to navigate through a debate with a talking head, was doing on this show.  In the end, the show came off as some public access interview* with a crazy cat lady.

by my (simpleton, made it past college algebra with a C) math:

133% of the federal poverty line is $54,397 for a family of 8, to be at ~ $90,000 you would have to have a family of about 16. I say farkenA, if you got 14 kids you can have free health care.
