They knew he played for Kentucky.  They knew he was a Pitino protege.  Why bother even reading the resume?  He got them to the dance and now they're going to get all hissy prissy over a stupid piece of paper?  Now they won't take him back?  Come on Manhattan, have a little respect for spunk.

"With just seconds to go and each of their players in foul trouble, UK is gonna have to pray for a miracle to pull this one...wait, what's that? WHAT'S STEVE MASIELLO DOING HERE IN UNIFORM?!"

If you've already been a D-1 head coach, why the ever-loving fark would you need to outright lie on your resume?

And for that matter, why lie about something that a standard background check would look for, like educational credentials? Why not something like "voted most charismatic speaker by local chapter of ToastMasters"?

It's important to hire someone who can be trusted to respect the integrity of college athletics.

But seriously, I can't see how Manhattan can take him back. He's damaged goods. How can he recruit? "Oh sure, there's that one time I tried to leave, but I had to come back because I wasn't up to South Florida's ethical standards, so here I am back at Manhattan."

Manhattan lies about where the college is located (it's in the Bronx), so it was ok that he lied to them to get that job.

Because the school requires that you have a degree. If a University is going to pay you a million dollars a year, and make you the public face of the school,  I'm sure they are going to make sure you have a degree just to show that you are in line with the mission of the school.

As someone who was a student at UK while Masiello was there, let me assure you of one thing: The next time he's on the court while the outcome of a game is in doubt will be the first.

It doesn't matter if you can do the job, you have to be accredited.

True.  Otherwise someone might figure out that the sheepskin being sold is actually pretty much worthless, and that ability isn't measured by surviving party-school for four years.
