I'm pretty sure that just WAS the vote of confidence. Whether they want to dress it up that way or not.

I would love for United to keep Moyes. If he stays then Spurs have a better shoot at landing van Gaal.

It seems even the match going supporters have finally turned on him after the defeat to City. The stewards had to stop them from taking down "The Chosen One" banner on the Stretford End, and then there was this guy:

There are also reports that Ferguson was getting yelled at by those sat near him who blame him for picking Moyes as his successor.

The good thing for him now is that United don't have any more matches against the top sides in the league; and even with Ferguson at the helm, I think most everyone would expect them to lose to Bayern, so that result probably won't be held against Moyes.
