(City of Toronto)   Wondering if you can vote for Rob Ford or Olivia Chow despite not living in TO? Well, the letter Subby got in the mail doesn't say, but your money sure can. Toronto: Ontario's City, your money has a vote there (if you are a resident of Ontario)   ( www1.toronto.ca) divider line

I'm a permanent resident so I'm going to donate some cash to a not-Rob-Ford candidate.

Right now Oliva Chow, Ari Goldkind, and David Soknacki are on top.

BeesNuts, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought they were having a stroke reading this headline.  Can someone translate Canadian here?

Rob Ford raised like a 1/3 of his campaign donations from people who don't actually live in Toronto back in 2010.

The headline says; "I am a really boring person trying to 'make a funny' (as the kids say) about some political junk mail I got.  Two of the candidates for Mayor of Toronto (The Crackhead and The Asian) are accepting donations from anyone in Ontario, whether or not the donors are eligible to vote for Toronto Mayor.  Here's a link to the political contribution rules in Canada because I couldn't be asked to post the junk mail to my sucky blog, and I still couldn't find a way to whip out or bind in a joke about the Dominatrix who is running for the same office."

I didn't make it through the Canadian campaign contribution laws before I got bored, so I don't know if Americans can contribute.  But having checked around it doesn't look like the dominatrix even HAS a campaign website beyond her twitter account and her fetish site, The Crackhead is here, and the sane candidate is here.

All of them appear to use too much flash, so fark 'em.

You're a real Canadian now. That's how we vote. Harper got elected because people voted Not Paul Martin. Jean Chretien got elected because people voted Not Mulroney's Crew. (Yeah, I know he wasn't PM any more by then, but it was mostly his people still in power.) Mulroney got elected because people were sick of Trudeau's Liberals. (Yeah, I know he wasn't PM any more by then.)

It's a long tradition.

Yup - that's the proof that the quebecois, who voted for the PQ last time because Marois was Not Jean Charest, are not that different from the rest of Canada after all.
