A "chef" that works at McDonald's.

I'm still waiting for my NEA grant for being a Subway Sandwich Artist.

Mr Strahle consumed a gut-busting 6,370 calories in less than half-an-hour

Relevant:

the French are already bogged down in heavy mud - a sorry state of affairs prompted by their heavy armour and insistence on riding in battle after a gut-busting breakfast of stuffed songbirds washed down with calvados.

Coincidence?

"..washing it all down with two giant bottles of sugary Gatorade."

Gatorade has 21g of sugar per 12oz, Dr. Pepper has 40g, Coca-Cola has 39g.  What exactly was the article writer alluding to?
/As a matter of fact I do have all 3 of those things in my pantry at the moment.

"I AM the Burger King': McDonald's chef devours every sandwich (6,000 calories worth) from rival fast food chain in one sitting"

In a bid to be crowned 'Burger King', one man challenged himself to eat every sandwich from the fast food joint in one sitting.

What a tragic  sad, lonley, pathetic little man. Probably with some issues that will never be resolved whilst earning a 'McWage'

With the re-emergence of celebrity chefs, tons of people went out and got culinary degrees. This saturated the market and brought wages way down. I wouldn't be surprised at all if some sucker with a degree from a strip mall school was employed by McDonalds.
Also there's McCafe which is supposed to be an upscale McDonalds meets Starbucks. There's one in Orlando but I've never eaten there.

I don't think they even flip burgers anymore.  They pull the reheated beef out of a bin to "assemble" your burger.

I find it amusing that so many here hate the poor so much that you won't even let him have a title like 'chef'.

Look, if you want to let words lose their meaning you can ruin your own vocabulary, but the rest of us take "chef" to mean "someone who cooks food", not "someone who assembles pre-made items into something that happens to be edible".

Most fast food establishments, especially McDonald's, don't have any actual cooking involved.  It's all "put frozen meat patty unit (model #8B2X4) into reheating tray" and "remove warmed dairy-based flavor slice from plastic sheath".

This isn't about hating the poor, it's about the respect for the title of "chef". You wouldn't call an unarmed mall security guard a "police officer" just because he wears a (square) badge, so you don't call a guy who wraps burgers in wax paper and then pops them in a microwave a "chef" because it is insulting to real chefs and not even close to being a reality. If this guy is a chef, then the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese I made for dinner last night makes me Alton friggin' Brown, because I put a hell of a lot more effort into making it than anyone who makes food at a BK.

I get it. Your "word" is so much more important than letting this poor guy have one minor indulgence in the newspaper.

It's not hating the poor, it's just not wanting them to have anything good. I know. I know.

2014-03-26 04:38:19 AM
McDonald's Corporation can't possibly be too happy about this whole thing.  He can write 'chef' all over his resume now but I don't think that's going to do as much good when he gets called out on it.

AverageAmericanGuy: I get it. Your "word" is so much more important than letting this poor guy have one minor indulgence in the newspaper.

You know what that does? That allows him to hold on to the delusional belief that his job is the same as a guy in a toque working in the kitchen of a five-star restaurant, instead of forcing him to confront the reality that his job is almost indistinguishable from being an assembly line worker, except real assembly line workers have a better union and good benefits.

Calling a fast-food worker a "chef" is just another lie people use to keep the poors ignorant of the fact that, yes, they are on the bottom rung of the labor ladder.  Otherwise they might be inspired to try and make something better of themselves.

Mccafe is wherever they serve coffee, which, in California at least, is all of them.

Blame society and it's need to overblow every goddamned thing into being far more important than it is. not this poor schlub.

Is you am actual doctor?

Perhaps am actual doctor of long lists everyone reading this thread scrolled past?

uttertosh: In a bid to be crowned 'Burger King', one man challenged himself to eat every sandwich from the fast food joint in one sitting.

What a tragic  sad, lonley, pathetic little man. Probably with some issues that will never be resolved whilst earning a 'McWage'

Issues? Probably. The thing about the LA Beast is that he does crap like this all the time. This is actually fairly mild for him, all things considered.  I mean, the guy ate two cacti just for favs and likes on YouTube. Eating a ton of Burger King is kind of par for the course. My personal favorite has to be when he ate a whole bag of sugarless Haribo gummies, though.

Point is, he does stuff like this all the time for the sake of entertainment. It's kind of fun, in a "let's watch Steve-O shoot a firework out his bunghole" sort of way.

I would imagine that he gets enough in revenue from his YT stuff that he could pay for a lot of what he eats... and maybe some of the medical problems later.

I have not been there in a while, I was looking for an explanation of "Angry Whopper".  It sounds like an x-rated version of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

An Angry Whopper has jalapenos on it. I'd be more inclined for serrano peppers, but hey.

Sounds racist, right?

Have you guys considered that either this guy is a particularly strung out chef who ended up at McD's or that the official job title is 'chef'?

I've never heard LA Beast refer to himself as a 'chef' in a video. This sounds like some dumb Daily Mail reporting.

robohobo: He's a chef, much like someone with a 'doctorate' degree is am actual doctor.

As per wikipedia, here are but some of the bullshiat allowances of the Doctor title.

"As per wikipedia"

"Doctor, as a title, originates from the Latin word of the same spelling and meaning. The word is originally an agentive noun of the Latin verb docēre [dɔˈkeːrɛ] 'to teach'. It has been used as an honored academic title for over a millennium in Europe, where it dates back to the rise of the first universities. This use spread to the Americas, former European colonies, and is now prevalent in most of the world. Contracted "Dr" or "Dr.", it is used as a designation for a person who has obtained a doctorate-level degree. Doctorates may be research doctorates or professional doctorates. "

Just to make it clear, Ph.D.s are research doctorates. They involve 3-8 years of open-ended sustained effort and culminate in the production of original groundbreaking research. M.D.s, D.O.s, and so on are professional doctorates, awarded for following a fixed curriculum of classes and on-the-job training. They are all titled "doctors" and have been since the word "doctor" was invented.

Should we blame society or you for your inability to read and process information correctly?

Fart_Machine: Bathia_Mapes: Lenny_da_Hog: A "chef" that works at McDonald's.

My thoughts, exactly. Burger flipper, yes. Chef, no freakin' way.

I don't think they even flip burgers anymore.  They pull the reheated beef out of a bin to "assemble" your burger.

They don't flip the burgers but it's not any kind of reheated thing.  (Why do people assume such bad things about McD's?)  They have clamshell grills where a thing on a hinge swings down and cooks the burgers on both sides at the same time.  We called them bus seats cuz that's what they look like.  Worked there and BK both.  And, yes, it really is 100% beef, urban legend spreaders bedamned.

McD's does't flip because they have hot burger presses that cook both sides on the grill at the same time.  BK runs them through the broiler and cooks the whole thing at once. They arn't reheated, they are actualy cooked from raw frozen patties. Now they might keep them them in a bin to keep them warm for a bit. But the only time they microwave is to melt the cheese a bit.

I haven't directly worked for these places, but I did spend a lot of time in the back doing drive-thru and CCTV equipment work.

And it's amazing how stupid/total lack of a fark these people are sometimes. You'd think it woudn't be that hard to throw a Big Mac together. Buns on top, middle, and bottom, meat between each bun, some sauce and lettuce and you're good to go. How do you fark that up? Maybe forget a slice of cheese? Put the sauce on the bottom instead of the stop? No, this one asshole made my bigmac thusly (from top to bottom) : Bun/Meat/Bun/Bun/Meat. It's not like you grab a stack of buns in one hand and a stack of meat in the other and shuffle them together like cards, and the guy simply misshuffled. He had to actively put the meat down in the box first. Look at it for a second, shrug his shoulders and say "eh, close enough".

But the worst fark up I got was ordering an 8 piece nuggest from BK. Receipt said nuggets so I know it got keyed correctly. They gave me a nugget box, so I know they understood what I wanted. But there wasn't nuggets in the box. It wasn't even close. I could understand if I got chicken fries instead of nuggets. Maybe the guy was new and thought those long straight things were just weird nuggets. At least it would have been chicken. No, instead of 8 nuggets I got 1 sasuage patty. How the fark? It's not 8, it's not chicken, it's not nuggets. What, was the guy ordered to drop some nuggets and he forgot, and then when they should have been done he started having a panic attack and looked around in a desperate attempt to find something, anything, to put in a box? And what gets me is that this was around 4pm. Well after breakfast. There shouldn't have even been any sausage laying around. Jesus dude, at least throw a breaded chicken patty in there. At least get the correct animal. Hell, throw some mini-cinnis in there so at least the count would be correct.

And these arn't revenge cases where I was a jackass to someone. Just your normal trip to the drive through. And these people wonder why they make minimum wage.

Back in college friends and I used to challenge each other to "eat for the cycle" at various fast food places. For the non-baseball fans, "hitting for the cycle" means getting a single, double, triple, and home run in the same game.  So we'd determine which items on the menu would represent each one of those. For example, at this local burrito place, a quesadilla was a single, small burrito a double, large burrito was a home run, and the "Mexican Plate" was the triple (because the Mexican plate was the largest amount of food, and triples are the hardest to get when hitting for the cycle in baseball.)
