I'm in houston on a business trip, and I wish I had brought my camera (a real camera, not the thing on a phone) with me; I'd so have gone down to check that out this morning.  Oh well, probably for the best, what with not getting in the way and such ;)

Yep. The coolest PC gaming device since forever is now owned by the most inane f*ckstain of an online service since forever. But don't worry, Facebook KNOWS games...

That was a painfully antagonistic interview about ted nugent there.  Are they all like that, or is that just Texas?

2014-03-25 06:51:07 PM
Just saw a little blurbette about this on ABC.  Holy crap on the construction worker rescue.

I hadn't heard about this.  Thanks for ruining my evening.

That link went to a Houston weather report.  Thanks for the weather report.  Was there also a fire there?

2014-03-25 06:52:50 PM
Welp, time to raise crude oil prices again

2014-03-25 06:52:53 PM
Link went to autoplay weather report.  Really?  I know the weather in Houston sucks, I lived there.  But, pray tell, how does it classify as a fire.  Is it just Texasing.

2014-03-25 06:53:05 PM
the neighbors are probably at fault, that's what happens when you let Peck sign off on the EPA paperwork

You are joking, right?

(checks)

NOOOOOOOOOOO :(

What's showing is a pair of men debating Ted "The_Pants-Crapping_Racist_Coward" Nugent's performance cancellation.
The melanin-disavantaged guy is calling the draft-dodger a "good American", while the other guy is calling him a racist coward, and that paying $16+ thousand to keep his stench out of town is a relative bargain for taxpayers.

and not a very timely green light for a NewsFlash, either.  Fire in a building under construction was under control by mid-afternoon and this link goes to the front page after 5:30 (central time).

2014-03-25 06:54:56 PM
So a fire is in Houston.  You know where they have a problem.

2014-03-25 06:55:19 PM
The fox station had two video feeds. One was a weatherman talking about weather (I had the sound down, but I assume he was saying, "And here in the east, Satan is working with Obama to send a high pressure evil front to KILL EVERYTHING YOU LOVE...")

The other one was a picture of a building sitting there, possibly wishing it was beachfront property.

Fire?

Texas?  It's Fox.

2014-03-25 06:57:35 PM
Of course, it's hard to tell where the rubble ends..

2014-03-25 06:57:55 PM
of all the things that can burn in this town, a fire in an unfinished apt building next to a cemetery doesn't even blip my radar

2014-03-25 06:59:03 PM
there were no survivors next door to this blaze

2014-03-25 06:59:31 PM
Well, according to:  http://www.myfoxhouston.com/story/25069187/2014/03/25/4-alarm-constru c tion-project-fire-causes-building-collapse

This fire was somewhere around 5 hours ago.

Way to stay timely, Fark.

I clicked and was presented with an argument between Quanell X and some other guy about Ted Nugent.
sigh.

So many levels of sigh there actually.

FWIW this particular fox affiliate aired a "debate" on creationism like last week. I happened to see it live and I could not believe my eyes & ears.

The "science" advocate was very careful to say over and over that science and religion are not directly comparable, science is not attacking your faith, etc.... The creationist advocate kept responding with direct bible quotes, ignoring the moderator and the science advocate completely. It was an utter disaster.

I know you all like to make fun of Texas around here. In the case of this Fox affiliate, I completely agree with you. Good lord.

/lives just south of Houston...

Satisfaction came in chain reaction. THAT BUILDING COULDN'T GET ENOUGH, so it had to self destruct, huh!

2014-03-25 07:00:46 PM
Houston, we have a ... what? ... whatya mean it's contained? ... what are we supposed to do for news? ... Crap!  ... Never mind, Houston. We're all fine here. How are you?

2014-03-25 07:01:33 PM
Inflammable means flammable? What a country!
