You're so zany, Activision-Blizzard! (Why don't you call yourself Activision-Blizzard?)

I'm no PR expert, but this item link is a rather poor attempt at masking a paid link.

Well they do deserve a little credit for shutting down the games worst feature, the online store thing and admitting it was a mistake.

Can you imagine EA ever apologizing for SimCity?

they did remove the always online requirement. but glassbox had too much money pissed into it to ever have a company apologize for it. better to weather the storm under the pile of gaming press that said "9/10 GAME BUT ALWAYS ONLINE PROBLEMS ON DAY 1 MAKE IT A 4/10 GAME"

I have to say that the launch of the expansion was about the smoothest launch of anything, ever, that I've seen. I was able to log on and play from the time the U.S. servers went up. No problems since, and didn't see much in the way of trouble reports.
And the game is better. What they have now is a lot better than what they launched last year. It's fun, for me anyway.

The earlier patch that made the game suck less indeed made the game suck less, but I don't know if it's enough for me to come back to Diablo.

They made the game pretty good for the brand new player or someone who didn't get too far into it.

I played the game when it first came out on PC, and was crushingly disappointed.  I remember hearing people talk about how the console versions had fixed a lot of the issues and scoffed at the Idea.  But, I actually got a copy for the xbox and played the hell out of it with my brother.  So, I learned my lesson.  I will wait until the expansion drops on a console.  For what-ever reason, Blizzard just makes the game more fun on console.

Yep. It got my fiance to love playing games and now she's better than me at it. The couch co-op is perfect and the already retooled loot system works really well.

Truthfully? Im interested to see what Activision releases/does in the next year or 2 now that they aren't under the Vivendi umbrella anymore.

I mean, Im not expecting the world, but im at least keeping a open mind now that they are their own entity (Er. kinda)

That being said, I finally get my damn graphics card this week and Im gonna give Diablo a try. Played TL 2 to the point of I can't even look at it anymore and I didn't care for Path of Exile much, so now that the game is reworked, im gonna give it a shot.

Still undecided. I have friends trying to drag me back in with the expansion, but I don't know if the Crusader class is shiny enough to warrant 40 bucks.

I don't think Blizzard has earned enough goodwill to pretend they didn't turn a generation of beloved games into microtransaction'd Skinner Boxes. Sure the expansion may be amazing, but I just don't have give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt anymore. Maybe if they make a concerted effort, but even a one-off isn't enough to make me take a second look. I gave them another shot at Hearthstone, and it was basically a slot machine that I had to feed real money into.

I got it more for the extra level to play. The Crusader seems pretty cool - I only have mine up to level 12 at this point, and I have to say he seems a little overpowered. At this point it's about as challenging as Barbie's Horse adventure - but the difficulty is slowly starting to increase. I'm sure there will be mucho tweaking before they're done.

Really, the only franchise I'm still completely behind is Starcraft. I wasn't completely happy about the story in HOTS(evolved high heels, brilliant), but I want to see the ending of one of my favorite space operas, dammit.

The crappy microtransactions are everywhere these days, unfortunately.

I might pick it up eventually, i got DIII for free with the WoW year pass, enjoyed it well enough despite never playing II, but never got around to finishing it.

Im so behind on games, i have so many to play, but i dont wanna bother until i get a new computer and who knows when thats happening... heck, i picked up Heart of the Swarm for $20 on black friday but dont even have hard drive space to install it.

Need to get around to Hearthstone too, played through the tutorial, seemed to scratch an itch i didnt know i had.

Sorry blizz. You threw me under the bus to focus wow pvp on farking arenas.

SC2 was worse than 1.

I skipped diablo 3 the second I heard of real money auction halls.

I have a shiatload of wii and 360 games to play before I hit the new generation

GOG has some goot retro shiat waiting for me.

AND summer and the boating season is fast approaching.

Diablo 3 might be fixed to the point of being awesome by now, but the ship sailed.

My friend was super-excited for it, even tolerated the always-on mechanic.  I watched him wait about a half hour to be able to get a slot to play on launch day.  Day after it was about an hour wait, maybe a bit less.  Hardly the end of the world, but I wouldn't call it perfect either.  Nowhere near as bad as the SimCity launch.

Elfich: Felgraf: Path of Exile still does it better.

It's fun, no doubt.  At the very least, I'll tolerate PoE's always-on bit because it's freakin' free.

On that topic, I'm not going to spend money for D3 until the always-on requirement is dropped.  That's not out of spite, at least entirely: my internet connection simply is not reliable enough to be able to handle always-on.  The joys of living in the sticks.  The last thing I want is for a game to send me screaming back to the main page because my internet connection died for 30 seconds, especially not when its ostensibly a singleplayer game.  Yes, I know always-on allows for immediate and easy multiplayer pairing, but plenty of games are capable of the same thing without mandating you keep a constant internet connection.  Dead Island, for example, has "nearby player" notification that lets you connect with a single keypress, yet the worst that happens when the interwebs go down is that a little notification pops up if I am currently playing in online mode.  There's no reason why D3 couldn't do the same.

They just went down for some rather abruptly announced downtime.  I was in the middle of a fight and didn't get a portal opened fast enough.

I liked D3 on the console and prefer the controller to mouse and keyboard. It was such an improvement over the PC version. (Not to mention it wasn't online-only and didn't have the auction house.)

This. After what they did to WoW and then Diablo I don't trust them anymore. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. And I do not like playing the fool. I wish them luck. They had something once and threw it away. Maybe they can get it back again. But if they do it will be with other people, not me.

It was probably designed by committee just like all HP products.  They designed it for accountants or something.

Actually, it's even worse than that.

They've worn me out on screwing up properties and publishing half-assed non-content without any real game component that I'm not upset enough to actively notice and avoid their products.

I avoid them completely  passively, since I just don't care about anything the company makes anymore.

I went back for 2.0, found the game I was hoping for back when it launched.  Crusader is great fun so far as I love a shield-based class (and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn is a favorite voice actress of mine).  Haven't gotten to adventure mode but I'm expecting to spend quite some time there.

Same.  I got bored with it after hitting level 60,beating the game, and selling a legend item for $50.  Then tried it out again after they patched in Loot 2.0.  Game is great again.

I recently returned to Diablo 3 after nearly a 2 year ... break? is that what it was? I had no intention of ever coming back, so break really wasn't right.. but Meh... I got it free from the annual pass promotion for wow, so when it was released and eventually became playable I really enjoyed it.. for about 2 months.. got my Demon Hunter to 50 and had beat the game on the first difficulty, but the gear in the AH was too expensive and I wasn't getting any decent gear to drop for me, so I quit...

what prompted me to return? well.. the implantation of loot 2.0 (smart loot) was a start.. but the fact it was still FREE to play and I quit wow for the 3rd time (final?) I needed something to do.. (being on disability and not able to do a lot of moving around my options are limited) got my DH to 60 and started having fun.. and then they nerfed the stuff again to "encourage" you to get the new expansion.. so I did.. and even with my problem of not being able to sit for too long I have managed to reach 67 in just a few hours.. still not 70.. but tomorrow perhaps..

so.. what am I trying to say?   I HATE SAUERKRAUT!!!!!

People have done a lot of explanations on how 3 was different (including just how they did the loot drops, which screwed up the 'reward' system of Diablo 2 that made it so *addicting* ). I can dig them up if you are *Actually* interested.

/Also Diablo 2 did not have a real money auction house.

Reverend J: I've been playing it today and it's a lot better, and harder than the original. It's actually...dare I say...fun?

The backlash from the original release is still going hard.  It's a lot of fun now, and the guy up there that says it's too easy needs to put the slider up and come back and tell me he's farming T6, visiting a laser rave while playing Bomberman in a furnace murder room of death.

It's a great deal of fun now, they did in fact listen to a lot of the relevant complaints.  The AH is gone entirely (now people moan about it being gone, it's hilarious), Adventure Mode should have been in from the start, Act V feels properly randomized and interesting where the earlier ones felt linear as all fark, and even the little sidequests are interesting this time.  I didn't care for the original release of the game, gave it three weeks and shelved it.  This is much more fun now.
