They should have Judge Judy and the bailiff from Night Court at his trial.

We're told Brown -- who is running for D.A. of Shelby County -- was "playing to the peanut gallery" and "incited a near riot."

Brown reportedly ignored the judge and was subsequently arrested for contempt of court.

Brown was cited for contempt 5 times and ultimately ordered to spend 5 days in jail.  He left under his own power and was screaming the entire time.

And they were surprised... why?

Brown was thrust into the national spotlight while presiding over James Earl Ray's last appeal of Ray's conviction for the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. Brown was removed from the reopened investigation of King's murder due to alleged bias-former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney of Georgia wrote that Brown told her and the Congressional Black Caucus, unequivocally, that the so-called murder rifle was not the weapon that killed Martin Luther King, Jr.[2] It was during this time that Judge Brown caught the attention of the producers of Judge Judy.

Yes, the crazy eyes Cynthia McKinney...

For a judge who only had 'authority' for minor contempt fines, JJB sure is facing a long week (assuming he doesn't pay the bail).

A TV judge playing to an audience while running for office? I'm shocked. Or not.

Umm, if his case wasn't on the docket he was either in the wrong place or wrong day. He got what he earned for being unprofessional.

Who could have ever expected a reality tv judge to sensationalize things and have an inflated opinion of their influence?

WHO?

Real court isn't the same as TV court, your honor.

I saw his show a couple times, like while waiting in the doctor's office, and it sucked balls. It was like Jerry Springer in a robe. Nothing "court-like" about it.

Is the Joe Brown or Danny Trejo?

Real court is ten minutes of interest in an eight hour day.

True.  I guess I meant that there was no order to the show whatsoever.  It was just people shouting out, including Brown.

Yeah, it actually sounded like Joe Brown was making a cogent point.

Anyways, I used to watch Judge Joe Brown, Judge Mathis and Judge Judy. Judge Mathis is the best by far. Judy is just mean for the sake of being mean and she goes into a lot of cases knowing who is going to win without hearing any testimony. And Joe Brown often gets his motor running and starts expounding on a point that is a misinterpretation of what a defendant or plaintiff said.

When I read the article and saw that he is 66 years old, I thought "He's too old for this shait...."

/But apparently not.

I knew Judge Joe when he was a real judge in Memphis back in the 90's. he used to dish out "alternative sentences" like write 5,000 times on a blackboard or stand on a corner with a sign to get publicly shamed.
