It's not finger tenting. It's the Finger Pyramid of Evil Contemplation

I've noticed this on political talk shows.  I think it's feigned gravitas.

It is sort of a gendo pose that produces a pronounced cynosure on the aiguilled axial-volar latitudes with a minor counter-pendulous vertebral translocation.

This. For example, Stromberg from "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977):

Supposedly tending your fingers is subtle body language that asserts control & confidence.  I learned that years ago, and do it in meetings just to fark with peoples' minds.

Also do the dominant handshake to my superiors when I get a chance (my hand on top)...funny they never seem to get around to doing random evaluations & observations of me.

As opposed to tenting one's pants, which is the go-to bit of villainous body language on Law and Order SVU.

I actually do that when I'm deep in thought and when something in my mind finally connects -- or I am wanting/seeking that connection that is eluding me. For me, I'm tenting my fingers to coax that mental connection. But I do admit to being weird!

Strangely first time I clicked on that link the picture didn't come up.  I'll blame Chrome and stick to that story.

I have too many favorite discworld characters.

/I really, REALLY hope that ' CSI-Style crime-of-the-week BUT WITH THE ANKH MORPORHK WATCH" thing the BBC was supposedly working on gets off the damn ground.
//But who to play Vetinari?

Well, there have been several people to play him already in live action, each with a bit of a different feel. Maybe Christopher Lee can take a break from playing Death?
