I still wonder if by the end of the movie, due to all the time travel, if Scott and Jean will be alive again.

Any self-respecting geek or nerd would SHUN this FoX-Men crap from 20th Century Fox, because they've been taking huge, stinky dumps on Marvel's characters for years now.

Please, don't pay to see this. Sneak in. Pay to see another movie and sneak in. Wait for it to be on Netflix. Just don't give your money to the box office for this movie. Don't encourage Fox to keep releasing shiatty movies based on Marvel characters.

killing Scott Summers, instead of letting him be THE iconic face of the mutant rights movement, was a huge mistake that the FOX-Men may never recover from.

I don't think it's going to be X3 bad, but I don't have high hopes. It looks like it's going to suffer from Too Many Characters Syndrome.

I thought that the first X-Men movie was great and the second was tolerable, and First Class was actually pretty remarkable. I also thought that The Wolverine was decent.  Mind you, X-Men Origins: Wolverine was bad, bad, bad, and I'll never forgive X-Men 3 for completely screwing up The Phoenix Cycle but that's not a bad win/lose streak for the franchise.

Now, I do understand that we all love Marvel studios and want them to have all of their properties back (ain't gonna happen), but I want to give credit to the X-Men films for helping to revive superhero films, which helped lead to Marvel getting into the film business in the first place.

I'll wait for the reviews before I pass judgement on this one, but I'm not going to preemptively dump on it just because it's under the "wrong" studio's banner. Marvel doesn't need my help that badly.

Cautiously optimistic, but definitely need some word of mouth to trickle in first. Too many ways for this to go badly, but Fassbender and McAvoy nailed it, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I think I was more geeked out when they showed Whedon filming parts of Avengers 2 in South Africa w/ a giant goddamn Hulkbuster gauntlet. HULKBUSTER, PEOPLE. AGAINST THE ACTUAL HULK.

As a former comix geek, it's amusing to me that the Avengers are now considered cooler than the X-Men.  Back in the '80s, there was nothing dumber than the Avengers.  Nothing.

IIRC, that wasn't really the studio's fault.  The actor ditched the X-Men franchise for the crucial role of Lois Lane's completely forgettable non-Superman boyfriend in "Superman Returns."

Yes, i think he meant to say that Bryan Singer is the one who made that crappy Superman movie, (which is DC).

As someone who really enjoyed X-Men First Class I am really hoping this is more of the same.

*yawn*, I cannot believe people are not getting tired of comic book movies, they are all starting to look and sound a like, and then they make 10 versions of the same comic books and characters, then reboot them.

Well, this preview looks better than the last one, but this still has the potential to be a steaming pile.

Time travel/alternate history is often (not always, but often) the last refuge of the bad writer.

Totally FOX's fault. Singer wanted to direct the third movie, but wanted to do Supes first. FOX rushed X3 into production and killed Cyclops as retribution.

Wait until Guardians comes out and people remember how stupid most comics are and why we associate them with mouth-breathing 11 year olds. That'll slow the genre down.

It's because most of them are just big budget action movies. Add old beloved characters to these big budget action movies and they will tend to draw interest and make money.

As long as it isn't another heavily based around Wolverine. So far, 5 out of the 6 movies have been about how many shiatty one liners he has or times he can yell ARGH in slow motion. I like to think Wolverine telling Xavier to "fark yourself" in First Class was really Hugh Jackman's response to having another movie based on him. Unfortunately, since this movie looks to be "X-Men: Wolverine's Adventures Through Time", it doesn't look good.

Singer and Fox:  Quicksilver will be an emo kid with goggles and a walkman.

Whedon and Marvel: Let's make Quicksilver wear a suit that at least resembles his old uniform but is updated to look like something someone would run in

I dunno...count me in with "too many characters and too much shiat going on".

I get that they're trying to raise the stakes and everything but I'm pretty certain that's going to come at the cost of dramatic tension from good storytelling.

I think they are simply going to try and pulverize my frontal lobe with special effects so I don't notice what a turd it is.

Depends on how they do it.  If there is a clear break between timelines with separate character stories they should be fine.  However if they start to go the Dr. Who route things are gonna go downhill quickly.

The old/original X-team will probably be only in the first 15 minutes of the movie.

I just hope they don't have Cerebro as a main character this time. Ridiculous how much screen time is spent on that in the other ones.

I agree with you about him being overexposed in these movies, but he's the only character that would look the same in the past and the future, so it does make sense, movie-wise.

This movie is based off a classic X-Men storyline, which involved a lot of time travel.
