jaylectricity: What am I missing? I don't see any photoshops, just drawings in some children's books.

I'll take that as a compliment.

And "denizen" is a little hipster, don'tcha think?

Total Fark Discussion. It IS where the denizens are cast.

Hoot!

Children's books always make for great shoop fodder, the juxtaposition of childhood innocence and adult themes reminds us of the touchy balloon clown that makes us wake up screaming and going to therapy well into our mid-thirties.

I would say they've succeeded at being assholes, which in itself, is not as hard to do as hating what they do.

Guess I have no business being in this thread....

Don't you people read? The Road is not a suitable subject for a "Child's Early Reader" book, because it's grim and horrific. Same goes for the other titles. That's the joke.

2014-03-24 12:28:57 PM
Well, I have to take some issue with this.  I do think The Road would make an excellent children's book--after all, one of the two main characters is the kid, there's the theme of father/son bonding and adventures, and there's the uplifting ending where the kid shows that he's a real survivor.  But I do think Blood Meridian is slightly inappropriate for children, in that it paints some of the Native Americans in an unfavorable light.

But very nice work, nonetheless!

Speaking as a liter that has never had access to Total Fark, I understood the headline. And I understood what was going on in the photoshops. I really don't see how difficult it is to "get it".

Congrats HBP.

Obviously true, though I have to say, if we're just limiting the discussion to Cormack McCarthy books, The Road is like a Dr. Suess book compared to Blood Meridian.  As much as it would fark a kid up emotionally to read The Road, any impressionable kid who ever reads Blood Meridian would instantly turn into a sociopath.

You have to have more "reading" material than sticky magazines in order to "get it."

Now, we will move on because I dont really care if you buy TF or not.

I tried TF once and just had it coasting on auto-renew for a while. When I got married and we combined accounts we started questioning each other's spending. When she asked me if TF was worth it, I pulled the auto-renew. I couldn't find anything worth paying for in it. $5 isn't important, but what TF gets you is even less important.

I do it mostly because I like it around here. And since I use adblock I don't mind paying for it. I don't venture into TFD land very often or use the email account. But I figure I'm here everyday for some odd reason so why not?
