Wow, what convenient lies in that blog piece:
Don't tell that to Terri Durheim of Enid, Oklahoma. She's another mom who's been blindsided by the realities of Obamacare. Terri told CNN that her son has a serious heart condition, but will now have to travel more than an hour to find a pediatric cardiologist who's covered under her new plan. She doesn't even want to think about what she'll have to do in case of an emergency.

That
sounds horrible. But you know what else we should tell Terri Durheim of Enid, OK? That the nearest pediatric cardiologist to Enid is in OKC. So under whatever plan you want or had, you were travelling to OKC an hour a way.

Picture of Terri Derpheim from another article where she's biatching about the same thing:i2.cdn.turner.com

She's probably been taking her kid to ol' Doc Evans 6 mile up the road, who specializes in cow birthing but can do pediatric cardiology in a pinch. Doctorin' is doctorin', as they say in those parts.  So she may have a point. She's also going to be surprised when the doctor in OKC won't take a sack of seeds for payment.

Also waiting for a broker is DeLisa Tolson. She lost her insurance when she got divorced three years ago. Since then, she's gone to the emergency room and to mobile health vans for care.

"Even though they did a lot for me on the medical van, there were just some things they just couldn't do," she says. "And so, as far as mammograms and Pap smears, and being over 40, I decided it was time that I came down here and got Access Health."

That was three weeks ago. Starting April 1, she'll pay $86 a month for her insurance. That's a lot better than the roughly $240 a month she had priced before.

Today she's back, bringing a friend in to enroll.

"I came home and I explained to all of my friends how easy it was and how comfortable it was," Tolson says. "It didn't take long at all, either. I was in-and-out within like 45 minutes to an hour. I felt very welcome. It was a very warm environment. It was nice."

My local paper ran a story on the ACA, and the only "Obamacare horror story" was a lady who kept her old expensive plan because the website was such a mess and she couldn't find out anything about the marketplace plans. Yeah, the website WAS a mess, but it hasn't been for a long time now. And you can find out EVERYTHING about the marketplace plans now. So basically she is a "horror story" because she's stupid.

FTFA: "Angela not only lost her insurance, she also lost a trusted family doctor to Obamacare. In a perfect summary of modern liberalism, one of the billing clerk's for Kentucky's Obamacare exchange told Angela that since she now qualifies for Medicaid, she'd be breaking the law if she tried to pay more out of her own pocket just to keep her old doctor. Medicaid rules forbid it.

The upshot: for Angela and her family, it's either Medicaid or a monthly premium increase of nearly $1,000."

What are the odds this is complete hokum?

Pretty hilarious that the Senator from Kentucky is complaining about ObamaCare when probably the greatest success story of ObamaCare thus far is the state of Kentucky.

If you increase access and make it more affordable for those who were previously out of the system, you'll be forced to increase costs elsewhere in the system.  The people paying those increased costs aren't happy about it.

I presume there really are some stories of people genuinely getting screwed by the law. It's practically impossible to craft legislation that makes every single person in the country better off financially. I'm flabbergasted that nobody has come up with a story that holds water.

Yes, yes that is a PERFECT summary of modern liberalism.  Our goal is to create laws making it illegal to pay for stuff because we demand you take it for free or you go to jail.  This poor woman.

No, seriously, if she qualifies for Medicaid, she's amazingly poor.

The real horror stories are mostly people in their early twenties working low wage retail jobs who have seen their positions eliminated or hours drastically cut back. But those aren't the types of people that Republicans care about.

You do know why this statement is incorrect, right? Increased enrollment is what makes it more affordable. Namely, the increased enrollment of people who are a net gain for insurance companies: healthy people.

True, new healthy enrollees have an increased cost over not being insured, but that doesn't affect the fact that access is increased and made more affordable for everyone, since a healthy person who wanted to be insured would have had to pay more before than they do now.

Now, this may or may not be the case, but your statement that increased access forces price increase is false.

There are a few layers of lies here.  That the GOP gives a shiat about her son is probably the most obvious.  How the fark was this kid supposed to get insurance later on (if he survives his heart condition) under the old rules.

This kids family should be dry humping Obamacare for allowing their kid to have his own insurance when he grows up (also allowing him to stay under their insurance until he is 25? 26?).
