Luckily the Philippines is also a strongly Muslim nation and so in about 15-20 years we'll have a religious civil war to take care of any overpopulation issue. Won't that be fun.

They don't refer to them as LBFM's for nothing you know.

There's a reason American servicemen during the Vietnam war referred to women of the Philippines as LBFM.

Don't get the headline. So you are saying if they adhered to all the teachings of the Catholic Church no teenagers would get pregnant? Is subby an abstinence derper?

Let's hope they practice the right half.

We've seen what the Pharisees, Scribes and Sadducees can be like whoreshiping* Mammon, Belial and any number of other goat gods in sheep's clothing. In other unrelated news, Fred Phelps is still dead.

The Philippines is 80% Catholic says Wikipedia, 10% Protestant, and 5% Muslim. In other words, it's France South. I wouldn't worry about them. The Fundies will eat Muslims for lunch, fried in bacon fat.

*Thought I might stump Google, but no, somebody already invented this word, drat them. Urban dictionary defines it as "the act of worshipping something (somebody) by performing sexual favors for it". And now, LBFM. I have a feeling I am going to be sorry to know the meaning of this one.

Yup.

Did you know "Paghahanap" is the word for "Search" in Tibet? For some reason, that's the version of Urban Dictionary that came up. I didn't even know they spoke Urban in Tibet. (bada boom! bada bing!)

Be kind to the Philipinas. Their Sister may be raising your children.

Watch 'em carefully, though. They may be Baptists. (crickets)

Pretty much - the article is about teen pregnancy, which usually means they are unmarried. So by the Church they should not be having sex.
But it is implied that they are doing a good job of following the 'no artificial birth control'.

While I won't say Subby is being an abstinence derper, I would say this is another example of the 'success' of abstinence-only education.

Professor Natividad says young people in the Philippines have limited access to sex education and sexual health services, especially if they are underage and unmarried, due to ongoing objections from the Catholic Church.

"We are a very conservative society and there is a lot of opposition from the Catholic Church about the open use or advocating safe sex among young children because the belief is that this is against morality," she said.

I think the point subby was trying to make is that the churches stand on sex education and contraception is bad and they should feel bad. But they won't even turn over child molesters so you know they could give 2 shiats about some whores in the Philippines.

Dear researchers,

Stop using 18 and over in your teen pregnancy studies. It might just might get the impression that you have an agenda when you present your statistics.

Now that makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up. Still not sure if abstinence derp is a pox on subby though.

Sigh.  There's a reason people used to get married so young--it gave them a god-approved method to deal with all those puberty hormones.  The problem here isn't the Catholic church's standpoint on premarital sex or sex education, it's all you left-wing fascists preventing kids from marrying at an appropriate age.

You want no more unwed mothers? Mandatory female marriage by the age of 15. Any girl who can't wait that long was a slut anyhow and destined for a whorehouse and poverty.  And they should be marrying a man of means, someone with a job who can support a family, like a village elder.

It's always interesting when people selectively adhere to the requirements of their own religions.  What's the point of refusing to use condoms when you're having sex before marriage?  God isn't going to weigh one against the other and let you off, or so says the Bible.  Of course, Catholics believe they can just say "Sorry, God!" for all their sins before they die, and that everything will be forgiven.  Religions of convenience are a large part of today's problems.

Subby is saying that their sudden conversion to Catholicism and adoption of hardcore Catholic ideas led to more pregnancy because Filipinos never were Catholic ten years ago.

I guess this is what happens when you give religious groups legal authority to push their beliefs on others. I would be happy if there were a worldwide law that permenantly restricted any religion from legislating morality. If you want to restrict something in your religious community and undertake the policing of your followers, fine. But fark all the way off of the rest of us.

We all have our fantasies, I guess.

Unless subby is god, I don't see how he/she would have anything to do with it.  It's the Bible that teaches abstinence, the catholic church added the no birth control clause.  Hence if you only listened to half of that advice what do you think would result?

I'm guessing their rate of STIs (including HIV) are similarly elevated.

Way to go, Catholic Church. Your cunning plan has succeeded.

1. Teens have hormones.
2. Teens don't have condoms.

The End
