I've never taken a selfie. I've also never cheated on a girlfriend, murdered a person or sung karaoke.

Well if you don't ever get a girlfriend, you never need to worry about the last three...

I, on the other hand, have done all of those things.

Taking 1 or 2 selfies i wouldn't consider narcissistic. There might be an actual reason for a selfie, maybe you are chatting with someone over the internet and want to send them a quick pic or something. I'd call that reasonable.

Taking like 20 or 30... yeah... at some point there is a line that gets crossed from reasonable to insane...

2 of 3.  I like karaoke.

But never taken a selfie.

I don't understand the problem people have with selfies.  No one would have a problem if a friend took a picture of you.  A selfie simply means you have no friends.

2 of the 3. Hate karaoke.

Loving buying tarp and cinderblocks at Home Depot.

Well considering all pictures are now selfie photobombs, this effects pretty much everyone.

I took one once, and it was to show the hat that I had made. I tried very hard not to get much of my face, though. I hate selfies.

Selfies make my large nose look even larger.

My high school/college best friend/best man at my wedding, posted a selfie of himself (is that redundant?)  at the renaissance festival.  He was in full renaissance costume.  He just turned fifty last month. *sigh*

Never took a selfie. Haven't even logged into Facebook in a year and a half. Social media weirds me out in so many fundamental ways. I could ignore that and just be social, but it is the internet after all. A little squick is understandable.

I'd believe this of compulsive selfie-taking. An isolated self-portrait, on the other hand, is another matter entirely.

People should stop having fun at age 18 like the good Lord intended.

I have to disagree that selfies are narcissistic. I think the term narcissistic itself is being polluted and diluted. It's just a new facet of modern living, share a photo of yourself with friends, or to friends, for a bit of fun. It's not because you love seeing yourself as much as possible because you're so handsome and sexy, it's just because it's rapidly becoming a normal thing to do.

Perhaps true narcissists are able to blend in and get away with it easier. But they're still easy to spot, because they can't walk past a mirror without stopping.

According to psychiatrist Dr David Veal: "Two out of three of all the patients who come to see me with Body Dysmorphic Disorder since the rise of camera phones have a compulsion to repeatedly take selfies.

I think the wicked queen in Snow White had BDD. Good thing she didn't have an iPhone.

I think people take a few selfies, notice their worst feature is magnified no matter how they turn, and quit taking selfies.  The only people I see taking large numbers of selfies seem to be either teens, narcissists, both, or maybe emotionally stunted adults.  If you want to be known for something other than your looks, like your skills or accomplishments, taking selfies comes across as less than mature.  But, if your looks are your only marketable skill, like a Kardashian, then knock yourself out with selfies.

If someone with MPD takes a series of selfies over a period of time would they be able to review the photos and determine "who" took which photo?

Every time I see someones duckface selfie, I comment about how much I would like to throw bread at it.

It's all about the duck lips. Even one selfie with duck lips is a sign of a serious personality disorder.

Every now and then the GF bugs me about sending her a picture of me when she is away. I send em usually it is me looking all unsexy on the couch watching TV. She sends me nude selfies all the time, so awesome!

I like watching my son (6) take his own selfies on an old phone. They end up looking up his nose, at his teeth, in his hair etc... but it's still great to get him giggling while he tries to figure out how to hold it right.

/Children of all ages are easily amused. It doesn't mean you have to post them online.

Must be a Generational thing. I've had a "Smart" phone since sometime last April, about a year now. I played with some Apps ( I always called these things Programs or Software, I don't know where this word APP came from ) and games and looked at websites on the little screen for a while. Since getting a "Newer" refurbed Dell laptop back in October though, I pretty much just use the phone as just a phone anymore. Why look at stuff on a little screen when I have a 15" screen AND a Keyboard right there. If I'm not home or at my desk at work, well I'm just Not hooked up, period. I don't Tweet. I told one of my "Real" friends I have to quit texting me as I don't do that either. If he wants to talk to me I told him to Call me. I don't do Facebook since that time around 10 years ago when a kid at work showed me his MySpace page he was so proud of and I told him it was Garbage since I had already been doing Real websites for several years with Dreamweaver. Never saw any reason for a "Social Network" why? I have a couple of Real friends, the rest are business Associates or Acquaintances, not Friends. If you think these people on your phone are really "Friends" ask them to lend you $100 and see what happens.
