Well this shouldn't anger the creationists very much.

They're already feeling slighted because they're not being acknowledged.

How can so many people be having trouble watching something that's on broadcast television? No cable? No antenna? Do you even have a TV? If so, why? You can't watch anything anyway.

I said it above, I'm too remote in Northern Canada to pull in broadcast.  4.5 hours drive from the nearest antenna.  So f*ck off.

Wherabouts? Just curious, I spend a lot of time up north.

Fort Mac.  Nearest broadcast antenna is in Edmonton.

Cool (damn literally). Further north in AB than I've been. Think the furthest was Grande Prairie last year on my way to Inuvik.

Inuvik is north of me, though.  I've not been to the Territories yet.  I came close to driving the Winter Road this year to Fort Chip, but I'm flying it instead.  Road started looking bad a few weeks earlier than expected.

Yes that it is. And yeah, as you know don't mess with the roads if you don't have to. AB is awesome though, Icefields Parkway being the most beautiful drive in North America.

unyon: Benevolent Misanthrope: Nope.  Too remote here in Northern Alberta.  No OTA TV.

If you can't get Global Edmonton OTA, you can watch it on their site (globaltv.com).  My guess is that the Fox stream will be blocked to you unless you have a US IP for this sort of thing.

Yeah - it's just the current ep I can't get.  It'll be up tomorrow I'm sure.  Someone said they were watching online, though, so I had hoped I could stream along.  Oh well.

I have no cable, and therefore no Cosmos :(, but wanted to drop in and say Hi y'all.

What's shakin'?

You don't get Fox OTA?

For all those people who repeat the phrase "Over The Air"

Not everyone lives in an area with adequate reception due to distance, hills, living in apartments and not being able to stick a 40 foot antenna on the roof, and other interference factors. Those people use cable or satellite, and if they don't have cable or satellite, they have no live television. They will have to torrent the program later or download it from usenet, where it will be posted by 6 am tomorrow.

My experience was going in May, with camping in Lucerne near Jasper, and Yoho near Banff. I was there the day the sites pretty much opened, and tent camping might be a bit cold (if tents are your thing, it's mine but YMMV). But I had both parks pretty much to myself, which was fantastic.

I take it you had to be pretty well independently wealthy to be a scientist.

How else do you lock yourself away as a hermit and work on equations and formulas and not end up homeless?

How do you take your paychecks in Fish Books and now be evicted from your townhouse?

My husband was on a cross country train some months before the mass suicide, sitting at the same dining table with two guys. Talk got around with the younger guy about the comet that was coming soon, as my husband is an astronomy fan. The old guy was a bit weird and didn't talk much but seemed interested in the talk about the comet. My husband feels guilty about bringing up the subject all the time, he's pretty sure it was Applewhite there over the meatloaf.
