JerseyTim: Why do all these great scientists look like members of 80s hair metal bands?

Because they are modeled after the modern era rock star, astrophysicist and knight. Sir Dr. Professor Brian May.

Don't blink. What's interesting is that the Creation stories are fairly accurate metaphores of The Big Bang and the evolution of the universe and life on Earth. picodenico: cameroncrazy1984: I will never get tired of watching footage of the Apollo missions.

Great series on Netflix I just watched, When We Left Earth has a ton of behind the scenes NASA footage.

Yep. It's pretty awesome. Another one is From the Earth to the Moon. Also produced (I think) by Hanks.

IronTom: Cog Spinner: Newton obviously had a lot of time on his hands.

Ain't it?  hoe do these people accomplish so much?  Maybe they don't have cable.  Benevolent, great things are expected.

But really., contributions galore

No, because I couldn't have possibly been sarcastic., at all.   noe way

Kiribub: HindiDiscoMonster: Kiribub: Actually, Hell's Bells reminds me of the Dresden Files.

I miss that show... Another show that died before it's time...

Just when the writing was finding its stride, too. Looking forward to Skin Game.

most networks do that... get you hooked and then tell you "nope... no more seasons"... OR intentionally sabotage the show (like Firefly).

FOX's greed is going to shoot this whole damn series in the foot.  People are going to tune out.

TOO MANY FARKING COMMERCIALS.

I'm happy to see something semi-productive on TV.

The conspiracy buffs will just love this: The entire broadcast so far in Oklahoma, the wrong audio track has been used.  It audio is clearly for the blind as someone is describing the visuals when Tyson is not talking.

Benevolent Misanthrope: rhiannon: Benevolent Misanthrope: Adolf Oliver Nipples: Benevolent Misanthrope: Sighhhhh... looks like I can only get episodes 1 and 2.  Those videos I thought were episode 3 are actually a string of trailers.  Unless I'm in the wrong place.

How can so many people be having trouble watching something that's on broadcast television? No cable? No antenna? Do you even have a TV? If so, why? You can't watch anything anyway.

I said it above, I'm too remote in Northern Canada to pull in broadcast.  4.5 hours drive from the nearest antenna.  So f*ck off.

Wherabouts? Just curious, I spend a lot of time up north.

Fort Mac.  Nearest broadcast antenna is in Edmonton.

Cool (damn literally). Further north in AB than I've been. Think the furthest was Grande Prairie last year on my way to Inuvik.

I have to make it to 82 to see this stupid comet come back.

Hally's Comet was a big disappointment in '86.

I forget the last one...maybe shoemaker levy, before it broke up....now that one was fantastic.

Hmmm.
While predicting a comets orbit was impressive, it's not the first 'scientific prophecy' ever made, since planetary orbital periods were predicted long before that.

2014-03-23 09:59:29 PM
Damn.

I'll put this down as my 2nd favorite, after the first one.

2014-03-23 09:59:34 PM
That was kinda explicit.

2014-03-23 09:59:37 PM

Kiribub: Why the obfuscation of Hooke's face?

There's no known pictures of him, only descriptions. So they didn't invent a face, they just hid it the whole episode.

2014-03-23 09:59:41 PM
Oh...it was Hale Bopp...very bright 1997.
