Lame. No matter where we sniff, it always points to the same cesspool.

Shouldn't have taken so long but I guess I'll do it.

One of your top commanders is missing, Ukraine? Well Crimea River...

orbister: Mentat: Guess what?  America's failings aren't a get out of jail free card for other countries.

Maybe not, but they do entirely remove any right of Americans to lecture from the moral high ground.

"The right"?  America can say whatever the fark we want, as can any other country.  The fact that we made mistakes doesn't absolve Russia or hers.

It's British for "surroundings".

orbister: Because what sort of civilised nation would abduct people and hold them in extrajudicial detention for years without trial, representation or hope of release?

[i.telegraph.co.uk image 460x288]

Oh yes. That sort. But then, what sort of nation would use overseas assassination of critics and opponents?

[static.ddmcdn.com image 400x318]

Oh yes. It's that one again. The one which likes to claim moral superiority.

Hitler killed millions of people, so clearly I shouldn't go to jail for killing that hooker.

I'd check Lubianka Square, subby.

Spare Me: Marmilman: Spare Me: Ya know, Putin used to be hard core Communist. He was an officer on the Berlin wall frantically calling for support when the wall fell. He is on record over the years lamenting the fall of Soviet Union as the greatest travesty of the 20th century. He's always been a totalitarian true believer.

Now he's simple a power hungry dictator, a hard left socialist AND a Nationalist. Now just mix those latter two together and what do you get?

I know I know, he's just protecting Russian speaking people.

He's definitely a nationalist, but not a socialist.

Socialism is just an excuse for dictators (and criminals). Makes good play on the propagation front. You know, "for the People".

Be that as it may, Putin isn't a Nazi.

I love the cuisine he pioneered, though - it's great to be able to build an entire meal out of small portions of lots of different things.

Are you familiar at all with the American Civil War? Well, in some ways, it never ended.

That's right, Vlad Tepes.

Calling a Southerner a "yank" would go over about as well as calling an IRA member a "Brit"

Perhaps he was a Scientologist and had become a "suppressive person" and needed to be detained in their secret California re-education / detention camp.  Totally with his consent, of course.  Sounds legit.

angrycrank: mcmnky: Kumana Wanalaia: calbert: FBS?

I assume FBS is Russian for PMITA.

Federalnaya Sluzhba Bezopasnosti (FSB). Successor to the KGB.

yes, I know what the FSB is, but subby clearly said FBS.

ClavellBCMI: calbert: FBS?

I think subby meant FSB, the new name for the KGB,

well, subby did say that they're not an expert, so I guess that applies to a lot of things.

To anyone outside of the USA, anyone inside the USA is a Yankee.

Inside the USA, anyone in the North East is a Yankee.

In the Northeast, anyone in New England is a Yankee.

In new England, anyone in Connecticut is a Yankee.

And in Connecticut, a Yankee is someone who eats pie for breakfast.

Football Bowl Subdivision, I don't why the NCAA would have a Siberian prison though.

Except for they don't.  There isn't a country that hasn't done something questionable. If there is they likely haven't done shiat worth remembering.  If another country is doing something that is denounced by a large portion of the globe then why wouldn't the US be able to stand up and say well that's farked up.

What's Russia going to do point at every country and go well UK you colonized stuff, and US you killed native americans and Germany how about those jews?  Then they all sit down and go "Oh yeah, well I guess Russia is right and can do whatever it wants?"

Lots of nations have done lots of things to lots of people.  It's the human condition.  In the US there seems to be a lot more acknowledgment of it internally than in a lot of other countries.

Your point holds value in a lest we forget way.  That's always important, but come on.  Why don't you save it for some time when it's actually valid.
