822km of Turkish-Syrian border and HaberTurk were 4km away from the plane as it downed. This is looking suspiciously like it was planned fromt he Turkish side.

Why meditate?  That sounds like it requires thinking and thinking has never really factored into Obama hate.

You shoot down my recon plane, I shoot down your bomber.  It's the Ankara way.

Why?  Because in June of 2012 the Syrian's shot down a Turkish F-4.  But, hey, whatever.

Shouldn't that be "Turkey Shot"?

I also can't help but think the the Turkish PM is looking for some distractions from his scandals and thought this might be a good one. Syria doesn't have the resources to mess with Turkey right now.

You would hope so.  It is far better for it to be a planned Turkish govenment response to Syrian action than some random air-defense colonel blasting away.  The trick is for the thing to not get out of hand, so just about everybody is lucky enough to live through it.

It's depressing how that sentiment (and similar variations) is genuinely held by a large number of individuals in this country. Hell, the day after the Crimean crisis broke out, I was visiting my aunt and uncle with my father. My dad actually kicked off the discussion with "What I want to know is, how does this put pressure on Obama". Unfarkingbelieveable.

No, that was 2 years ago. This isn't in response to that. That's kind of a ridiculously long time ago for a military response don't you think?

No, this is Erdogan trying to distract his citizens from the numerous and plausible corruption allegations and the crackdown on speech he is engaging in. Those are things happening right now and he's got demonstrations going on...

It's a time-honored tactic - internal adversaries at you? Rattle your sabres, start some shiat with a neighbor and try to use nationalism to get the country to rally around you. It works plenty of times too.

50 years ago the entire country was shocked and horrified by a president's assassination.
Now a third of the country would openly celebrate it.
I wish I was joking, but I can see the fark heads at Fox popping open champaign bottles and hailing the shooter as a national hero.

Richard C Stanford: Now a third of the country would openly celebrate it.

I take issue with that. I'm pretty sure a third of the Nation was fairly happy to get that Roman Catholic the f*ck out of office any way possible. Then they got Johnson who turned out to be their complete f*cking nightmare.

Kennedy talked a good show, but Johnson made a helluva lot happen and he used the memory of JFK to secure a few votes, along with a lot of threats and bribes.

He also gave us Vietnam, so it's kind of a wash.

And much of it's Military tradition comes from the vestiges of an Empire that lasted almost 700 years.

I wonder if that's a translation issue, cause that sounded really, really lame.

Something a stand your ground enthusiast says to his neighbor while his dick is very hard.
