Speedy was always one of my favorites, besides Pepe La pew (ms?). Shame Cartoon Network considered him too racist, considering looney toons were a tad racist to everyone. Now I wanna watch cartoons and not go to work.

"To be fair to those people who I have criticized, I probably have overstepped my - or maybe their -comfort zone. Because I'm used to being the CEO," he said. "Here I'm not the CEO. I'm a senior vice president at the most."

So people should only behave around the boss?

What's the problem? Speedy was the fastest mouse in all of MEXICO, not Cuba or Florida.

Sorry, dude. You may be a billionaire but you're still... how can I put this delicately... Brown. This goes for you, too, Ben Carson.

IIRC, didn't Cartoon Network in Mexico continue to show Speedy cartoons because he is a loved/popular cartoon character down there?

Yeesh.

I think that translates to "People should only behave if they're not the boss."

Yeah, he's saying that he was a dick because he's used to being the CEO, but he was only an "executive vice president" in this organization (Batboy's campaign). If he had been the CEO, he feels his behavior would have been something everyone else would have had to get used to. Seemed to me like he was saying you're supposed to behave - unless you're the boss, at which point being a dick is perfectly acceptable.

I think he's partially lamenting that things got tangled and publicly messy because he had to send an email and escalate some behavior he found insulting, and he wasn't able to just fire people he didn't like by having an underling issue the "no longer require your services" excuse.

He also said he'd never seen an organization that couldn't be improved.  He stepped in and his instinct was to give orders and change things, but he wasn't used to having to go through other chains of command when, as a CEO, he could just issue an edict and that would become reality.

tl;dr:  CEO used to imposing his will doesn't like being a cog and has billions of dollars to fall back on so doesn't think he needs to put up with things/people that annoy him, and quits

Hey, Florida... Just wanted to point out that you've elected foxes to guard your hen house. I know you're old and mostly retarded, but you might want to change that in the next election.

Or, just keep being you, Florida. There's no one quite like you.

Why was he hired in the first place? Did he have any experience working a political campaign? Or was it because he's a rich guy with rich friends?

Out of all of the Warner Brothers cartoon characters, he was the only one who was nice, polite, hard-working, and always - ALWAYS - won.

Knowing what I know about low-end Conservabros, talking like Speedy Gonzales was likely suffixed with content way more racist than that.

Oddly enough, those are actually the only two Looney Tunes characters I don't care for. I really hate Pepe LePew, which is weird because he was a Chuck Jones character and Chuck Jones was my favorite of all the Looney Tunes directors.

Seriously, WTF?!  You're a proud Latino -so proud, in fact, that you would quit your campaign-management job over a Speedy Gonzales joke from a peon staffer.

And that job is to convince other Latinos to vote for the 21st-century manifestation of the Klan.  Jesus Christ, it should be illegal for people this stupid to get this rich.

Lived in San Antonio for two years; if anything my friends made more stereotypical jokes about their heritage. The fact that the aides made the comments indicate that they saw him as a person, not a "brown person". By tip toeing around stupid shait only demonstrates that you see a persons skin pigmentation as a primary definer. Why u so racist?

It's one thing for a person to be self-deprecating about his or her race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc. It's another thing entirely for someone who is not of the same race, ethnicity, etc. to make the same kind of comments about that issue. A Mexican making fun of Mexican culture does not carry the same undertones as, for example, an Irishman or a Japanese person making fun of Mexican culture, and vice versa. Sometimes it's okay - an outsider's critique, for instance, to give another perspective on the topic. That's not a big deal (or, shouldn't be, at least). But sometimes it's not - when it's mocking derision or condescension, for example. That's problematic.

No, it's situational. My group of friends and I were beyond skin color and did not look askance if I joined in. Just like they weren't offended when I laughed at their jokes. A joke is a joke, the intent is to be funny whether a hispanic tells it and a white person laughs, or a white person tells it and a hispanic laughs. Neither is more offensive than the other. If anything a white person is honoring the culture by repeating the joke.
As a society we've lost the ability to contextualize situations and instead jump to being offended. We need to get over ourselves.
