Come on Christians, this kid wasn't aborted like your doctrine demands, now put your money where your mouth is and adopt this kid so I can ignore him later in life passing out Chick Tracts to me at the mall!

The sad part is, it's still probably easier, quicker and cheaper to adopt a child from over-seas.

"Something doesn't seem right. I pray about it," said his mentor, Richard Prince, 22. "He's changed schools and foster homes, and he's not allowed to tell me certain things. People want to hear a happy ending, but it's not too clear what's going on."

It's very clear what's going on.  He has just run into the vast chasm between what people say they want to do and what they're actually willing to do.

IIRC, the kid was a discipline problem who got violent on occasion. You can't blame people for not wanting to get involved.

No, the left want the government to take care of him, which is what it's doing. The right, on the other hand, want charities or trickle down blah blah blah he needs to get a job.

Say that reminds me, how'd you get that kid so darn fast? Me and Dot went in to adopt on account a' somethin' went wrong with my semen, and they said we had to wait five years for a healthy white baby. I said, "Healthy white baby? Five years? What else you got?" Said they got two Koreans and a negra born with his heart on the outside. It's a crazy world.

Read the article.  Thousands called in, hundreds left messages that never got a call back.  A family from Michigan that did get a call back was informed that Eckerd (the foster agency) wouldn't allow him to be adopted out of state.  I have no idea if any or all of the callers are Christian.  There is a real problem with this story and it's pretty obvious that something, somewhere is broken.  But you can't lay this on a lack of desire to adopt the kid, Christian or otherwise.

Uh, DNRTFA I assume.

Sounds like the system is farking him over healthcare.gov stylees. Willing families can't get through, those that can get through can't get a call back, those that get a call back don't see any progress on their application....

At 15 you get to start picking up his college tuition very soon.

Adopt the kid and you have a $100,000 college bill before very long.   Too rich for me.
I'm barely able to afford heat and enough food for a month.

Being an orphan isn't all that bad, kid. Just move to the UK and they'll give you a gun and a license to kill.

Do we need to start arguing about abortion in a thread about an ORPHAN? But, hey, you can leave the thread satisfied with how you are making the world a better place.

You can't just call and wait for a call back. You must be persistent. Yes the bureaucracy has a slow tempo, but that helps avoid abuse. Even with it the way it is there are frequent stories of foster kids getting abused.

Those who are serious (and can pass background checks) will find a way.

Weird, it's almost like getting the government involved in anything slows it down to a crawl and adds layers of built in cost.

Sounds like the Eckerd Agency used Davion to raise awareness and $$$ for their group.

You can't make $$ as an agency...whether govt or non-profit...if you truly help the folks who you claim to raise money for

Take it from me: once you're no longer an infant, it is amazingly hard to get adopted. I spent years in the foster home from hell before I lucked out. Most people want impressionable babies that they can lie to and have the eventual "you were adopted" fight with.

Nabb1: Do we need to start arguing about abortion in a thread about an ORPHAN? But, hey, you can leave the thread satisfied with how you are making the world a better place.

Yet the guy who took a swipe at Obamacare in an orphan thread gets a free pass from you? Despite the fact that the person you're b*tching about has a legit gripe about how the adoption problem is NOT being addressed by the anti-choicers?

/yes, this issue is a pet peeve for me

8/10. Pretty good.

Results will still be zero, however. Unless there are some childless giants out there, no one is going to take a "boy" who can crush them with one hand using his coke baby grip.

Actually, my family and another were told the same thing that a lady in the article said - that they were only considering families in Florida. We contacted family we have in Florida who would love to take him in. They have yet to be contacted after making initial phone calls and inquiries.

If he has not been adopted it's not because folks aren't trying.
