Bummer for them.  Thank goodness it's still, in a right and just world, eight days until the season starts.  Oh, wait, we're in Stupid Land with this.

And now every April I sit on my porch
And I watch spring training pass before me
And I watch my old teammates, how proudly they catch
Reliving dreams of 01's glory
And the relievers pitch slowly, all bent, stiff and sore
The forgotten heroes in NL West lore
And the young people ask, "What did we buy season tickets for?"...

And I ask myself the same question

And the band plays Waltzing Montero

And Arroyo throws another ball
But year after year his numbers get fewer
Some day no one will remember '01 at allWaltzing Montero, Waltzing Montero
Who'll come a waltzing Montero with me
And Womack's ghost may be heard, as you pass by the swimming pool
Who'll come-a-waltzing Montero with me?

Goddammit so much, Fark, way to completely bork the formatting!

But only two games were real ones.

The funniest part of the trip is flat bus tire. The Dbacks ended up walking to the game.

Don't forget about the exchange rate.

I'm still waiting for ESPN to publish their annual predictions.

As I said the other day, that tire is a metaphor for the Dbacks season: stuck before they even got started.

/It's not going to be a good year in AZ

We should have sent one of our professional baseball teams.

They still got to go to Australia, which is loads better than Arizona.

I'm okay with this.

Yep, this season is gonna blow.

Question for the Dodgers fans here:

So what's going on with Puig and the rest of the team? Mattingly sounds fed up with Puig's antics. It looks from the outside that Puig is in full "don't curr" mode. With most players, you'd say "bench him" but that would just make Puig act worse it seems. What does Mattingly do to send the message that his crap can't be tolerated?

/Obviously, coming in well overweight and his lack of hitting in spring training doesn't help Puig's case at all

Just like your mom did last night

The only good thing is that no one got bite or stung. We all know that everything there is trying to kil you..

Why did both teams wear their home uniforms?

jedzz: Why did both teams wear their home uniforms?

Dbacks chose to wear their normal Saturday uniforms (with it being a Saturday night game back home) and the Dbacks were the home team for both Sydney games (a point of contention back here, I assure you). Dodgers must have decided to take advantage of that and wear their whites. Don't see any problem with that.

I don't see a problem either-- I just found it curious. I had assumed that there was a rule (unofficial or not) regulating designated home teams to their whites and road teams to their grays (for instance the Giants played in their road unis when the Reds "hosted" them at AT&T last year). I certainly know that the only firm rule is that all team members have to wear the same uniform.

Are we supposed to believe the season has started?  I don't know about you guys, but I find this "opening day" in a country halfway around the world - Japan, Australia, whatever - and a week early, particularly stupid and tiresome.

So the Dodgers are now two wins ahead of everybody and in sole possession of first place.

None of those were regular season games, right?  just spring training?

MLB might have made an exception since it's a neutral site- a completely justifiable move, IMO.

Yeah, but they should be most ashamed of losing to Australia - Australia's baseball prowess is on a par with the US's cricket prowess.
