(Huffington Post)   Producers of 7 Fast 7 Furious announce they have finished filming and found a way to finish the film by respecting Paul Walker's tragic death. Naw, kidding; they're going to use body doubles, CGI, and dub his voice to make the film flow   (huffingtonpost.com) divider line 57

They paid the guy to be in their multi million dollar movie. He then went out and got himself killed doing something stupid in the middle of filming said movie. I don't blame the studio for trying to salvage their production after all that.

If they killed him off in the movie, they would be taking the easy way out.
If they made him "go away", they discredit the story telling.
If they replace him, they disrespect him.

WTF should do they?

only "fail" I see here is subby's lack of comprehension about how movies work.

As long as they keep the eleventy-speed transmissions with no overdrive gears, I don't care who the fark keeps up-shifting. You can always go faster with another gear.

I should add Mary Dees did a # of Three Stooges shorts, the Sam Raimi/Bruce Campbell term "Fake Shemp" comes from Shemp dying while simultaneously filming 4 or 5 'Stooges' shorts & Columbia, it musta been weird for Moe to play off a guy doubling his recently deceased brotherhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm6kZmBeHBk

Dark Knight Rises did all those things. Big deal.

I think Taylor Kitsch needs some work.

I don't know how I should feel about this. Depending on who you read it from, the last minute of Iron Man 3 was CGI'd because RDJ was out with an ankle injury. But this is not 60 seconds. This...this could be a clusterfark.

/oh, are we still assuming that Walker was driving?
//really, as long as people realize that he wasn't behind the wheel, that's all that matters to me

Yeah, those Fast and Furious movies have some Shakespeare-level story telling, I tell you what.

"Once upon a time, a bunch of cars crash and asplode.

The End."

Wow that's going to suck as we all know that people that go to see Fast & Furious movies go for the plot and dialog.

2014-03-23 01:20:42 AM
I'm not sure if I can see this if they compromise the artistic integrity of the film this way.

You expect a certain level of cinematic excellence when viewing a Fast and Furious sequel that I don't think they can maintain using these so called "computer generated images". I don't see how they can properly convey the nuance of cars going fast that is so vital to the essence of the story with fake images. A shame really, after 6...7...er what are we up to? classic sequels, to lose sight of the overall artistic vision that is Fast and Furious now is really a disappointment to film aficionados everywhere.

I refuse to see this. But I will comment on it every time a thread appears on Fark to let everyone else know that I liked Fast and Furious before it was cool and the newest version is just a sad grab for cash. Totally unlike the first 8 movies.

Richard_The_Clown: Like Brandon Lee in "The Crow"?

I think it sort of worked for the gloomy, gothic atmosphere of The Crow, where Brandon Lee was playing an undead revenant.  I'd feel it would be kind of off-putting in a light-hearted action movie.

They should kill off his character in a fiery car wreck

2014-03-23 02:03:32 AM
Well I haven't heard anything about his estate offering to return the money they paid him. And I don't think anyone objected to  e.g. Gladiator doing all those things. Would it be very insensitive if they made his final words in the film "Shadows and dust, Dominic! All we are is shadows and dust!"

At least they didn't write his death into the movie and then use film from his actual funeral...Because that would be in bad taste.

2014-03-23 03:08:26 AM
If they did kill his character off in this movie I would hope that there was a scene after the credits where photographs showed he was actually still alive and in Europe. That should lead to some real buzz i.e. "Now how are they gonna pull THAT off"

they should just have his character be killed in the opening scene in a firey wreck after being set up by bad guy X.  Everyone in the theater feels sad and the story can go on.

Bring back generic replacement from Fast and Furious 3? as Vin Diesels not-gay-bro.  Or replace him with John Cena.  One of the two

So what? It's a stupid action movie, Smitty. In what way to you think they should "respect" Paul Walker's death?

And he was the passenger.  Oh my gosh, that's so totally unexpected.

They could actually do that quite easily, and may have been intending to bring the Generic Replacement character back in anyway. The stinger on Furious 6 that establishes Jason Steakums as Bad Guy X, causing the death of Han, which we saw in Tokyo Drift (unnumbered, 3rd release,6th chronolgically) occurring shortly before Diesel shows up to race Generic Replacement in that film's stinger.

I would chuckle heartily if they used your second suggestion.

Holy crap subby. Hollywood is run by vicious a$$holes with terrible ideas. This is a surprise to you?? They've invested millions in this movie and they're not going to just walk away because he went and got himself killed. And besides, it's a garbage movie in the first place.

Exactly what I thought.

Would either actor have said, "If I die, you can this movie?"
I doubt it.

Legally speaking, such continuation clauses were probably in their contracts anyway.

Only thing I remember about that movie was that it was PG which meant that HBO would show the movie before 8:00. Big deal, except this movie had boobs which was awesome when you were eight!
