According to Wikipedia, the term Microaggression was invented in 1970, so it's not a new thing, just obscure. I notice that Firefox considers "Microaggression" to be a misspelled word, which might in itself be a microaggression.

I hope Mozilla apologizes.

Taunting, needling, administrative violence, that sort of thing. Think "death by a thousand cuts" except you only get 2-3 cuts a day.

I still don't understand how that's politically incorrect? Is it something to do with a stereotype of an angry black man? Does McGill house an easily offended guild of masons that specializes n doors? What gives?

It's supposedly super duper extra racist. I mean come on! Only racists would DARE to besmirch the good name of our president by implying that he kicks doors.

The University should apologize for being woefully out of touch with the zeitgeist. Nothing worse than an institution of learning looking priggish to the point of autism.

For The Record, McGill University also disowns the McGill student who killed Harry Houdini because a.) Harry H's 'pre-existing condition', a bugaboo with socialized medicine & b.) he didn't graduate http://www.archives.mcgill.ca/reference/ref_reffaqs.htm#F

Ever notice that you never see Mohammad Ali and Cassius Clay in the same picture together?  Kind of makes you wonder what sort of funny stuff is going on there.

Besides the one where Mohammad Ali is standing over Cassius Clay in the ring? Or am I thinking of a different picture?

It's how people who want to see racism all around them invent racism when there's nothing real to be found. It's a derivative of an ideology that requires victims in order to maintain relevance.

When I was doing my undergrad at McGill a few years ago the student government decided to hold a referendum on whether or not the school should formally admonish Israel for their invasion of Lebanon. Normally nobody ever attends any political functions at McGill but there are sizable Jewish and Muslim populations that go there, so this particular vote got out of hand real fast. There were so many people that the vote-counters couldn't keep track of them all, so somebody had the brilliant idea to ask all people who were pro-Israel to stand at one of the gymnasium and all the anti-Israel people to stand on the other side. It never exploded past a lot of yelling and name-calling across the gym, but I'm pretty sure it was the closest I've ever come to being in a race war.
There are a lot of similar incidents that happened during my time there, but the moral of the story is that the McGill student government has a history of being as PC as possible, while being contextually oblivious.

This is why although anti-racism laws like Canada and Germany have sound good on paper but don't work in real life. It's similar to anti-hate crime laws here in the US, since they are indeed of vague and open to interpretation, but the hate crime stuff is easier to actually be consistent with. ---Most of the time--- There are still cases where they're really pushing it with the hate crime label, but it's never this silly.
