Why don't smokers just grow their own tobacco?  Is drying and aging tobacco leaves so complicated that it's best left to the pros at the multinational conglomerates?

I'm a homebrewer, and I can certainly make better beer than the large breweries.  I assume the same is true of tobacco.

I know for a fact that the Amish grow a ton of tobacco down around Lancaster.  I live in upstate NY, about 3 hours from Amish country.  I'm sure tobacco grows just fine here, too.

Could it be that smokers are just lazy?  Nah.

When are progressives going to learn that legislating morality does not work?
They scream their obscenities and wave their flags and proclaim they are the truly enlightened ones when they are the worst of the oppressors.  Fascism hiding behind a veil of liberty.

I don't know if they are the worst, but oppressors they are indeed.

Before all the ruckus, "the Ukraine" sounded so natural. Now that I know how the people there feel about it, it's hard to see the "the" there and not go all ragey.

Now we know why Putin wants Ukraine.

Home tobacco production is a pain.  You need to hang the leaves for 2-12 months in a warm dry area and hope it doesn't get moldy, then what you end up with isn't any better than the homogenized machine-cut used in commercial blends, just cheaper.

I used to grow my own tobacco when I lived in Vermont years ago.
It's not that hard. I cured it in the basement and had enough to last me all winter.
10X better than store bought cigs.

/Quit smoking 9 month ago
//So glad I did

Does Putin smoke? He seems like such a healthy dictator.

It's blindingly obvious. They never have American packaging, and are often written in foreign languages, particularly Spanish where I've seen them.
When I was a kid there was a guy who sold expired cigarettes for half retail price.
Once bought a carton of Newport Stripes for $4.

GungFu: Stopped buying cigarettes over 2 years ago after a 15+ year habit.

It was easy. No gum, patches or whatever. Just couldn't be arsed going to the shops getting new smokes.

Laziness - funny how the doctors never advise this as a course of action to stop smoking. It works!

You sound fatter now than two years ago.

It's actually Ukraine and China.
There's no "The" before either.

It's not "The Ukraine" just like it's not "The China"

Drives me bonkers.

False equivalency is false. Unless you grow your own barley and hops, I suppose.

How do cigarettes expire?  Pipe tobacco and cigars don't expire.  They usually get better with age.
