So for all the shouting about of K's greatness you hear from Dickie V and ESPN, they have quite the resume of being upset by lesser teams.

He really should do something like that. Give the school that pulled the biggest upset based on how many selected them in the bracket game $10 million for scholarships and research work. Really help the school benefit from the extra publicity.

Also they have the toughest schedule in North America, and the refs are constantly cheating them.  And they're the classyest program since Mayor Classy came to Classytown.  Classy.

I wonder what Memphis' record would be if almost all our good tourney appearances weren't vacated.

Two out of three to start isn't bad.

Yes. With the highest winning percentage (.750) of any tournament school with more than one game played, 3rd most wins, and 5th most games, this post makes sense. Lots of sense.

Other stats don't negate what I said, but nice try.

I picked them in most of my brackets and had either them or UMass beating Duke in more than half...because Duke sucks and it's a given that a ton of people will pick them to go far regardless of how good or bad they are.

Way to ride that '86-94 stretch for all it's worth. Three first round exits in 8 years, to an 11, 14, and 15. One final four in 10 years. Yeah, you're on hallowed ground with the likes of George Mason, Wichita and VCU. Maybe they'll make it next year and match Butler's final four total for that same stretch.

You're right. When making a point about the overall success of a program, I should remove any long stretches of success, which will certainly strengthen my point.

Removing your 86-94 stretch...

* 2 National Championships
* 5 Championship game appearances
* 8 Final Fours

What's your argument? That they are not a historically good team?

Only if you are a #1 seed.

And, Duke has the worst win pct (.692) of any top-3 seed in NCAA Tournament over last 10 seasons among teams that played 10+ games as top-3 seed. And, if you discount the 2010 season, it's even worse.

Duke is the only team in NCAA Tournament history with 5 losses to double digit seeds as a top 3 seed.

Yep, this is it. Narrowing the window to 10 years and 3 seeds with 10 or more games has finally allowed me to see that Duke still wins about 7 out of 10 games. Which is clearly some kind of failure. And yes, removing successful years continues to be detrimental to aggregated statistics.

Just like Tom Brady sucks because he only has a 60% win rate in Super Bowls.

They should have given Duke 10 points to start the game. You know, because of what they've done in the past.

It's only fair to those people who live in the past.

When responding to a post about the reputation (which incorporates the past), I invoked the past. Do you see another way to respond to that?

Uh, YEAH. Ignore it as stupid. Adding stupid on top of stupid doesn't make it smart. There is no double negative advantage.
